On one hand, I sympathize. There were times when the Kings were in the dumps that two goals did it for me.

On the other, f*** them for all their chest thumping and they deserve it all.

Edit: yep Lehtinen 3 times, last in 03. Before that Dirk Graham and Craig Ramsay before going back to of course the legend Bob Gainey. But those are the only 4 since 77 when it begun to be awarded.

Lehtinen was the first winger that came to mind for me.

That dude was a well oiled machine in just about every way imaginable.
 
It’s nice to see the Kings score more than 2 goals finally. But it’s pretty unreal what’s happening in Vancouver. Their team is fully in self sabotage mode. They weren’t even trying. The JT Killer shit seems to be real.

I dont' have a lot of sympathy for Canucks fans but it must suck to know your season is circling the drain because you have to sophie's choice one of your two 1Cs in order to try to save it

It was the Kings that didnt believe in him.. Shouldve made the team out of camp last season. Then when they brought him up late last season it was only due to injury.. then they played him on the 4th line while promoting Lewis and JAD above him to the 3rd line on occasion.

What do we consider to be "writing off" Turcotte?

If it is what he was expected to be when drafted, then that is firmly still in play and most likely the case.

That said, I don't think anyone here was rooting against him but if he becomes a solid 40 point winger, well, that's not what you are looking for in a 5OA.

Fox was pushing that the Org was eying him as an elite 3C a couple of years back and that doesn't seem to be the trajectory either.

I would imagine for most, "writing him off" revolves around the fact that he is the Tua of the LA Kings and all of us are still holding our breath anytime he takes a hit.

It's awesome to see him playing well. Definitely one of the reason this team is so much more enjoyable to watch than last year.

Honestly, I wasn't at all sure he'd play 100 games in the NHL a year ago. The injuries, concussions, and his lack of offense were all pointing to being written off as a loss. Turns out his desire is finally paying off and his vision and skill are catching up to his motor.

Happy to see him make it as a valuable NHL regular. I don't think I've seen a Kings prospect want it more than Turcotte.

For Turcotte--6 g 14 p in last 22 games (when he got moved up in lineup)

That's a 22 goal 52 point pace to go with his elite off-puck play and the pace increases monthly, its no longer a stretch to think he could be a 60-70 point guy in the Diet Mike richards/Jonathan toews mold.

As one of his biggest supporters I will say even I started to write him off as MAYBE a 40 point guy but he's already been more than that since before the holidays. Remarkable.

I DO think it's important to point out that he can be useful on any l ine but his vision and skill are wasted without good finishers next to him too.

So, we may not have gotten a traditional offensive play driver at #5--but we got an absolutely elite support player who can amplify what your scorers can do while beign effective and responsible all over the rink. His analytics are eye-popping.

It is no coincidence that the best of Byfield and Turcotte have been when playing with 11 & 9.
 
Turcotte seems like one of those weird players whose game is better in the NHL than it is in lower leagues.

The pace at which he plays matches the NHL game and compliments better players.

Preface this by saying I like Jeannot, but the counting stats are going to look better with 11 & 9.

Speaking of Jeannot, he only has eight points but is pacing for 254 hits. I'm not going to run through this again, but the Kings haven't had a player with over 200 hits since Lucic and Brown both did it in 2016. Brown came close the following two seasons and then the Kings fell off a cliff in this regard. Englund hit 189 last year so it almost happened, but I want a forward to put up those type of numbers and they finally have it again. Helenius is pacing for 264 hits over 82 games in less ice time, which is nice to see.

Anyways, I say this because if he continues to play this way, Jeannot is getting an extension from Blake.
