This is why we want to do whatever it takes to play the Canucks in the first round last year and moving forward.

But how does it happen? They would need to pass both the Kings and Oilers. Unfortunately it seems the Kings are destined for the most difficult (Edmonton and Vegas, in some kind of order). The most ideal situation for the Kings would be to finish as the WC and face Winnipeg. The Jets like the Oilers are top heavy, but those three are not at the level of McD and Drai. I could see the Kings grinding out low-scoring wins over Winnipeg waaaay more than they could against Edmonton. But it's very unlikely that either Vancouver or Calgary will be able to challenge either the Kings or Oilers for 2/3 in the Pacific.

The ship has sailed.

Calgary is a bigger threat than the Canucks this season.

Agreed, but that is not saying much, the culture in Vancouver sure seems rotten. Calgary is better, but the Kings are a way better team than the Flames. I think when the dust settles it'll be St. Louis as the WC2 in the West, they'll jump Calgary and Vancouver.

That period was a great example of "what if" for Turcotte, had he been able to stay healthy. That just personified his qualities that made him a fifth overall pick.
I got a late start on the game, and only just caught up, but I came here to say the same thing.

Those plays are the kind that are so important to winning hockey games, and are so hard to find. Just a gorgeous display of hockey sense & tenacity meeting.
