Played well against them last time and fully expect Vilardi to be motivated against us as per usual. At least the team should be well rested, fires notwithstanding...

Thank god we're back to some Kings hockey tonight.

Should be an interesting game. Kings haven't played in nearly a week and the vibes are probably slightly weird/off due to the fires and Wednesday's game being postponed. Feels like it could be a pretty one sided affair for either team.

Player to watch: Quinton Byfield
  • Does he get back on the scoresheet and continue his hot streak or has this unexpected break taken some of the wind out of his sails?

The Schedule wasn't in LA's favor but the postponed game actually helps (instead of 4 games in 6 days it's 3 in 4) Last game was
Sat Jan 4 TB @ LA then a 7 day break because of the postponed game of Wed Flames @ LA

Fri LA @ Jets (last game was Tue vs Nash) expect a rusty first

Sat LA @ Flames (last game was Tue @ Ducks)

Mon LA @ Oilers (Sat Oilers @ Chicago)

Thu LA @ Vancouver

Sat LA @ Seattle

The schedule helps but it seems like guys are pretty shook

Especially moore obviously

so hope they can channel hockey for a few hours though between their play at the end of the streatk, the rust/break, the travel, the air quality haha, and the distractions, I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 points from the 3 in 4 and 2 from the last two.

For reference, here’s how the Kings lined up during yesterday’s practice –

Turcotte – Kopitar – Kempe
Foegele – Byfield – Jeannot
Fiala – Danault – Laferriere
Moore – Helenius – Lewis – Thomas

Anderson – Gavrikov
(Edmundson) – Clarke
Moverare – Spence
Englund – Burroughs

Kuemper
Rittich

Regarding defenseman Joel Edmundson left Saturday’s game against Tampa Bay in the third period after an awkward collision with Lightning forward Zemgus Girgensons. Edmundson traveled to Winnipeg and progressed to a full-contact jersey today, after skating in a non-contact jersey over the last three days. Unclear regarding Edmundson’s availability for tonight.

The Kings should welcome back defenseman Kyle Burroughs, however, after the veteran missed Saturday’s game for the birth of his son. Burroughs appears set to return to the lineup tonight against the Jets.

Should Edmundson be unable to go, the Kings will need to decide between what has been their preferred 11/7 alignment, with Andreas Englund remaining in the lineup, or a 12/6 look with forward Samuel Helenius returning to action. From today’s skate, the 11/7 appears to be the look for tonight against Winnipeg, with Edmundson out and Englund in, but we’ll wait for warmups to confirm.

Personally I'd rather have Burroughs in the lineup than Englund but ideally neither should be in...

Lewis and Moore are both back. I know they still ran 11/7 last game against Tampa with both Lewis and Moore back but hopefully that's not an indication the 11/7 is here to stay. I also know the Kings record is absurdly good when running the 11/7 but I'm still not a fan - this team can still play well while running 12/6. Either Akil or Helenius should be in.

Why are we running 11/7 again? Does any other team do this consistently?

Hey guys and girls just wanted to say i hope anyone living in those fire ravaged area's are doing ok. I live in Winnipeg but go down to LA once a year for vacation and just love the city especially Sunset strip and Laurel Canyon. Hopefully we have a good game that goes into OT so both teams get at least a point. Again though i hope you are all doing ok, well as good as you can anyway. :thumbu:

Its not up to the staff to announce it, so we can only speculate. My opinion is that Hiller wants to be able to handle Clarke with kid gloves more than he wants to rest any forwards.

For all we know it could be concerns over fitness issues and managing minutes. Its a tough thing to ask of any defenseman to step in cold for 5-6 minutes a game, but Hiller seems to think that is the lesser of two evils for now.
