No, he was stripped as a condition to Sutter resigning as coach . He wanted to name his own captains when he was hired, DL said no . Sutter did everything he could to make Brown's tenure as Captain misserable. Mike Richard confirmed this. Sutter was a total dick to him until he was fired.
