I think the Caps have a lot of good players. Even if the roster looks piecemealed. Carbery by most accounts appears to be a very good coach.

McMichael and Protas were great draft picks. Strome, Chychrun and Roy were all good acquisitions. They killed it on the Sandin trade. Plus they still have lots of solid vets.

RIP

These guys are dead tired. Not making excuses for them but this is house money, as 'scheduled loss' as they can come imo.

Blowout vibes

Yeah I get the feeling they'll hang in this one 1-1 or 2-2 and just fall apart gassed towards the end.

PLD hattrick incoming. Then everyone questioning the trade after.

Inevitable main board bump imo

Caps fans repeatedly bumping that thread then going "why is this thread still alive" is like

Yeah I think Carbery is the glue, should be coach of the year. That's not an easy roster to pull together--lots of vets from winning and losing situations put together with the greatest goal scorer of all time? He was in their system before at least which I'm sure helped with familiarity and credibility but that's an unenviable job for a 'rookie' coach and he is absolutely killing it. Many of those guys were underrated castoffs but theyr'e all individually talented. And McMichael going nuclear was not predictable but is the major reason imo and now Protas being unstoppable...

Wonder if Rob Blake is punching air looking at Chychrun-Roy

It was a crap trade because it locked mediocre goaltending in for 3 years @ 5 something AAV & the King's are right back to needing a top 6 forward. Not that they ever gave PL a real shot in the top 6.

Burroughs needs at least 12 mins of ice time. Not even 5 minutes last game was a joke.

OT: (not that it'll be necessary today)
Fiala, Turcotte, Kempe
Laferriere, Byfield, Clarke

King's are losing in the first shift or two anyways. Just go for it.

Can't wait to see the adjustments on the PP for the game today. Maybe try Helenius & Thomas?

Go to the net against Roy! He sucks at clearing the net.

11-7 although have been working a bit is catching up to the boys. Can we sit Burroughs for good.
Yea the Burroughs experiment should be over. Ive never seen an NHL dman get burned clean so many times in such a short period. Hes not even very physical. Bjornfot was crucified here and he wasnt even half as bad. He actually makes me miss the guys from the list of crucified dmen here like Edler Maatta Fantenberg.
Washington may not be great on paper but they have been consistently impressive to me. One of the better teams in the league.

The only thing Burroughs needs more of is waiving

he is bar none the worst dman in a Kings jersey since before the Cup years

People always ask how you can do so much damage in less than 5 minutes...here's how. Zero redeeming qualities.

Edit: oh AND....get this. IT's not beause he was deployed defensively; he started EVERY SHIFT--whether on the fly or on a faceoff--in the offensive zone!

Koala had alot to do with pld's demise as a king. At least as much as he himself did. But no excuses for his performance here- that contract they gave him would probably be break even value in about 10 yrs

I demand his return.

At least he plays with a bit of heart sometimes.

Burroughs makes Englund look like Pronger

And Englund was arguably the worst regular dman in the NHL last year

I don't mind Englund as depth, 7-8. He at least brings certain elements. Burroughs brings nothing. Sure he'll facewash a guy who murders a King after Burroughs is the one that delivers the suicide pass but he's mostly a f***ing p***y AND a terrible player, he's not physically intimidating or particularly willing, he handles the puck like a hand grenade, and he plays mostly area defense to not get burned because he can't check without getting muscled. What are we even doing here? I'd rather play 11-6 than 11-7 in this case.
