I wish I could say this is the worst goaltending the Kings have had in a season, but I remember Brust.

Yeah but they weren't pretending to contenders the year they used 8-9 goalies!

This year they're like 'well we were that close' while running out a career backup and a buyout candidate with another career backup coming off a catastrophic non-contact knee injury for support and that is insanely their plan A!

It's year 10 of your rebuild
your top scorer is a 37-year-old getting ready to retire
your #1 goalie is a buyout candidate acquired by trade for your biggest mistake
your #1 dman is old and sidelined with a major leg injury, who knows how he will look after...but his fill in who is holding the lineup together is a UFA.
As you contemplate which poison to drink
A whisper enters the room through the vents
"hashtag masterclass" is the last thing you hear

I can’t excuse anyone on this team anymore. I’m disappointed in Byfield for being a bum. I’m disappointed Clarke is playing restrained. I’m disappointed in everything even fiala. I think Kempe is the only one who’s actually been good this year. Everyone else has been bad.

Legit just trade Byfield and anyone who has decent value, fire the staff, and rebuild again. There’s no other way.
Was really stressing out that the King's might hold on for a couple more years & burn all their valuable contracts off before starting the rebuild. Feeling much better now.

Hiller has that same mental defect as Koala - these guys are died in the wool Red Wings alumni where you dont play a guy on the NHL squad til he's 25
So you're saying Fagemo makes the team March 14th!!!!!

Something kinda poetic about Rob Blake blackholing himself, never quite being good enough to beat the teams who they are younger than, and now being lapped by the teams they are younger than.

It's the perfect fate for him if only it wasn't his second chance to royally f*** over the entire LA franchise while we have to watch

Can't believe I'm dealing with generations of this failure Judas

A backup is someone who can step in occasionally and give you competent play, but can't maintain it when given a lot of starts. That's what Rittich is.

Kings goaltending situation looks like shit. A couple career backup NHL/AHL tweeners, a rookie, and a broken down vet at the end of his career.
If you’re not winning at least 6-7 games in the playoffs every year it was a shitty season. Are you going to do that every year … no but if you are a contender that is the bar!

Lewis with worst shift in the entire NHL this year at 11:00 3rd period mark...if Laf, Turc or Akil had that shift, they would be benched the rest of the game and scratched next game...not that it factored much in this debacle, but he should sit next game.

Fox said they had Laferriere ALL of last practice at CENTER, Interesting. With Danault Done-und and falling at least twice in the 3rd period - to go along with his 1 goal...would consider sitting him as well. If they are practicing LAF at C, they are certainly not pleased with Danault and QB atm how they are performing at C.
Can they call up Glen Gawdin? 20 pts in 15 games..played a few games with the Ducks last year, I think...and 7 games with the Flames a few yrs ago. They need to send a message.

Fiala? Maybe his ipad alarm doesn't go off Wednesday and that would help.
It's honestly a major travesty that the Kings had Doughty, Kopitar, Quick and Brown from a few drafts and that set them up for DL to come in and master class the tooling needed to have the 2 cup years.
2012 Carter at deadline and 2014 Gaborik at the deadline were keys...and of course the rest....Williams, Greene, Stoll, Mitchell, Regher and others. BUT, in 15 years since drafting those 4:
1 G, 1 D, 1 C, 1 W....all elite or near elite at ALL 4 positions - the Kings have not drafted, developed and KEPT an equal to any of the 4...in 15 years!! I guess Faber and Vilardi may have been the closest.
Whoops! Good for the Wild and the Jets. FUKKKK. Drafted top goalie prospects 3 yrs too late - Slukynsky and George. Had they drafted one of that calibre from 2019-2022, they may be ready.
I guess throw Portillo in there...but not Wednesday, vs the #1 NHL team.

I think they need to sit Lewis and possibly Danault Wednesday. Play Copley. Or make Phil line 4.
WTF did they mess with Laf as #1 LW? That's where he was the best player on the team, the first 2-3 weeks of the year? Put him back there. And Turcotte was one of the best until his injury...then they play him half the first game back and bench him? WITHOUT TELLING HIM WHY? WTF?
Turcotte is a center and always at his best at center. Danault sux this year and QB cannot find his way at C. So put Laf at LW1 and Turcotte C QB and Foegele.

Trades and rumors picking up. Tomasino goes for a 2027! #4 pick? I would think that's Arty's best possible value.....so screw that. I guess he's skating and in a red jersey? I suppose he can play with Reign, for rehab? Too bad Pinelli is not ready....and too bad Fagemo is not so great in the NHL...and Madden was a whiff in the Toffoli deal. I thought Studnicka looked good in preseason,
Give him a shot. Mallot? He couldn't be worse than Lewis.

Sens lost 5 straight and rumored to shop Giroux. If the Kings were close to being anything, could make sense, but this looks like a black hole team. DD? Is he skating yet? Pinto could be interesting, Slow start and probably could be had...Norris, always liked him, but at 7.9 M?
The one season 35 goal wonder, 7.9 M cashin. I'd take him for Fiala.

I bet the Pens, Flyers and Sens will be making a deal or 2 soon.
Can the Kings fire Newell Brown? He's done wonders for the PP.
Removing Clarke from PP1 was a big brain move. WTF?

I don't even know what we are.

We're not trying to rebuild, but we're also not trying to contend.

We've got our best forward playing defense on the PP, and our best PMD not even on it.

11 wins, 11 losses while playing one of the softest schedules in the league. 5-5-0 in the last 10. This is probably who they are.

Send a message. Wed lineup:

Laferriere Kopitar Kempe
QB Turcotte Foegele
Studnicka Gawdin Moore
Jeannot Helenius Thomas

Newell Brown relieved of his duties. No need for a replacement. PP couldn't be worse.
Has anyone EVER heard DJ Smith speak? For real? Has anyone ever interviewed him?
I would think since Hoven loves to talk to anyone remotely part of Kings hockey, (in any year, 1967 to present) he would have had him on.
Fiala and Done-oh can chat in the stands about how it sucks and they are not part of the failure and where they may like to play, instead. By chance, there is a Kings mgmt assoc nearby and overhears...and agents can be contacted by the trilateral Blucgevin. Has anyone seen or heard Luc, since the Summer and that exit presser "we were right there" I think they sent him back to his Utah ranch. Good.

Kings are 6-2-1 at home vs 5-6-2 on the road.

Pretty sure management, coaches and the players who are fixtures in the lineup got the message that losing at home is the line that you don’t cross this season.

Preseason - the Kings played their hardest and toughest in the scrimmages....hard hits, a fight or 2...Jeannot wanting to kill Foegele after a play.....and yes, Arty hit hard up high and breaks his clavicle.

Where is that team? They only go out to kill their own? And now games are real and every point needed to make the playoffs, they go soft?

Night guys.
At least we all get to wake up tomorrow to news that the whole front office has been fired, right? Right?
that would be awesome but unfortunately I got called into work and will probably be here all night. So for me it is just hitting refresh ever hour hoping for a front office firing in LaLa Land

Kings have 11 goals in their last 6 games.

Kopitar has 8 points in that span. Amazing how reliant they are on a 37 year old.
Give that man Kudos. At least he tries and cares. Our checking center doesn’t check, our goalie is brittle, Drew hurt, our most skilled guy is like a spoiled poodle that bites ankles and shits on the rug when upset and our future star has scored 3 goals.

I'd trade Norris for Fiala.
3 shoulder surgeries. Screws put in, last one. I have not seen him a lot this year. Seems he's happy and producing.

there's this...think this is Seravalli.

If his physical checks out from reports and a physical done at time of trade....I'd consider it.
Contracts about the same. Fiala has talent...just needs to gel with team and linemates and never has fit, with any line.

Sens said to be looking for a LHD that can kill penalties...take Edmundson. Half retained?
England is not great, but can throw in. The Kings have Moverare, England, Burroughs, playing 1 spot and DD comes back, all 3 are extras. Moverare is honestly good and if I'm the Sens, would love to take him in a package. Add a 4th....the Kings dealt their 2025 4th in Jeannot deal.

Have your people call Blucgevin. Sens GM can get more, as did Minn and Winn in their dealing with them.

1st Period..ok....typical start
2nd Period...not bad....ok...interesting...

3rd period, wtf was that, that 3rd goal, Rittch has to have that every day twice on Sundays, and it was a helluva sneaky shot, absolutely, still have to save it. THAT goal is what broke the team, they just stopped giving a shit after that......

The Challenge on the GI....not sure what that was, assistant got it wrong, coach backing up his player, both? Trying to hold something together....but Rittich played like shit last night, and yea you let him wallow in the mess he made, you don't throw Portillo out there in that shit storm and expect anything good to come out of it...

Three more points and he will surpass 2nd leading scorer of the 80’s Peter Stastny on NHL’ all time points list. Anze played many years on a defensive minded team too.

Without getting injured he will probably end @ spot 39 at the end of the year.
