Do u know what a "loan" is vs just passing a player through assignment waivers and putting him on the AHL squad.

Loaning is a movement and cannot be done without the player waiving the NMC.

Fiala is another PLD mistake. Both players never should have been traded for to begin with. Neither player has developed consistently good chemistry with the rest of the team. Bad GM'ing, bad coaching, bad trades equals under performing offensive skilled forwards.

Yeah, some of you on here have seen this coming for years and with every passing moment nearly everything that's been predicted is becoming reality. The negative stuff used to really annoy me now I find it therapeutic.

I still question Grier as the Sharks GM, but he got balls trading for the teams future #1 goalie in Askarov. Something Blake doesn't have the pucks to do. Portillo might their guy, but the damn coach doesn't even put him in the game to find out what he's got at the NHL level!

I got that part of it.. but what is a loan? I know AHL teams have loaned players to other AHL teams.. but ive also heard it used assigning a player from an NHL to to an AHL affiliate... it has something to do with the destination team not having any contract with the player i think

Who gives a f*** about Fiala right now? Kings aren’t winning any games because of any one player. There’s a massive problem on this team and it’s not one single player. Our leading scorer is Kopitar and this team had a rebuild. That’s the crux of the entire problem. How the f*** are we still a Kopitar team

I think it only comes up if they play for a non-affiliated team.

Hiller has that same mental defect as Koala - these guys are died in the wool Red Wings alumni where you dont play a guy on the NHL squad til he's 25

There is no organizational direction with the Kings right now. Byfield was drafted to be the Kings next 1C after Kopitar, but they didn't even bother to get the right coaching to do it. Still like Kopitar, but he's a 2C nowadays. Byfield should have been planted as the 1C by now.

I was asking the question because some were praising Rittich, while his GAA was good(before this Sharks game) but his SV% was weak.

More like given 3 year extensions. The team is 2 points out of 2nd and solidly in a playoff spot almost at the Thanksgiving break. You just know that Luc and Beckerman see this as an unmitigated success.

Kings are not a total loss. They potentially have a 1C in Byfield, a future #1 goalie in Portillo and a 1st pairing d-man in Clarke. They just need a new GM and properly hired coach/assistants to build around those 3. There are other players on the roster to compliment those young 3, but need the right people to build the team up. Doughty/Kopitar are not top tier players anymore, but can still help mentor the younger players that are on the up and up.

A backup is someone who can step in occasionally and give you competent play, but can't maintain it when given a lot of starts. That's what Rittich is.

Kings goaltending situation looks like shit. A couple career backup NHL/AHL tweeners, a rookie, and a broken down vet at the end of his career.

I wish I could say this is the worst goaltending the Kings have had in a season, but I remember Brust.
