Good win, but this organization is so adverse to putting pucks into the net!
Nice to see a win, but Kings still sit too much on 2-0 leads, so I don't see it as a good win. Better teams easily win this game 3-2. Rittich's vision on the Kraken goal was puzzling and he also got lucky on a crease scramble earlier where the Kraken hit the post with a partial wide open net.

Insulting other people doesn’t change who PLD is. That’s a tip.
PLD is good for the Caps right now. Not one single Caps fan is complaining about him, and actually more Caps fans are coming around to liking him more. Sorry you are still butt hurt over him. As shown the Kings offense is actually worse now that PLD is gone!

Rittich was in great position all game .. maybe on the goal he didnt look around the screen enough but thats nit picking. Rittich deserved the #1 star.

Disagree. He was out position multiple times and if not for his teammates blocking shots and playing goalie, Kraken would have scored multiple goals from those instances. Some knocks on Rittich is his positioning, reading the play and inconsistent rebound control. He's the Kings forced stopgap temp #1 till Kuemper comes back from injury.

Copley has not looked good in Ontario.

Part of the reason Portillo was recalled, along with a light schedule.

He probably won't get a start unless Camper is not back for b2b's at end of the month.

I like Hiller but the last stretch has been rough.

You fired TMAC in season so naturally Hiller was a good choice.

He was tasked with stopping the tailspin and making the playoffs.

Only to lose to the West Champ, with some serious talent and the best PP in history.

Hiller earned a shot for one season and saved money while you are still funding the removed Koala cage.

With Ovi out it will be test time for PLD.
In regard to Copley, when he saved the Kings season a couple years ago, his Ontario Reign numbers weren't good either. Rittich has beaten out Copley before, but was flashy good. Rittich is still an inconsistent goalie. Copley has had challenges coming back from a knee injury, as most goalies would probably do so.

I’m not “butt hurt” about anything. You think somehow he’s now magically something other than what he’s been his entire career. Good luck with that.

Don't need luck! PLD is playing far better with the Caps than he did with the Kings! Kings fault for not doing their homework and just expecting PLD to be a fit! PLD has one of his CBJ's assistant coaches with the Caps and some players he played with before. The fit has been better because the Caps made sure of it. Also the Caps had bigger head cases with Alexander Semin/Evgeny Kuznetsov, so they have good experience on how to handle PLD!

Fairly solid. Goaltending 101, if any goalie has multiple scrambles out of crease like Rittich had, it's not a good recipe for steady goaltending. He was somewhat lucky, and as I said against better team than the Kraken the Kings would have blown the 2 goal lead and probably lost the game. As I said to someone else, not a great win but good to see them win. The lack of goal scoring from top offensive players is still a problem. This puts more pressure on Rittich, which is something he's not good at handling over a long stretch of games.

I'll end on this, good to see Kempe/QB score goals, but bad to see them sit too much on a 2-0 lead against average type team. The top forwards need to produce consistently and get some bottom forward lines scoring. Frankly, I'm not sure we'll see that with Hiller's questionable system.

Loved Rittich taking a shot at the net, just need to elevate it and I think it goes in.
Doubt it. That was almost a dumb move by him.

He cleared the puck, something any forward would've done. I'm ok with that.

Missed the game but I'm so glad to see Q get a goal, huge for his confidence. From the highlights it looked like they had some absolutely golden opportunities.

I agree with you about the butt hurt thing with LA fans regarding PLD. He is gone now and we should move one. The problem I had from the beginning that it was at the expense of Vilardi. I never wanted to trade Gabe.

Though now many cant move on because of some of the silly arguments throughout HFboards.

* LA did not do their homework
* PLD is playing great for the Caps (pair of goals & assists for $8.5m)
* PLD doesn’t need to score, he is great on the forecheck and along the boards.
* Every Caps fan is happy

That stuff is kinda annoying.

Everything is now ok because Washington is at the top of the standings.

The fact that you're bitching about other people bitching about PLD is funny. People are still going to bring it up, possibly more now because of this, its some Streisand effect shit. If we can't air our grievances here then where the f*** else should we, reddit?

I got up at 4 AM in Thailand to watch this?!
Almost went back to bed after 1st. Made it through period 2. Fell asleep around then. Due to lackluster game. Awoke on the sofa with 3 minutes to go in the third. Glad I got sleep.

This is the worst 11-7-3 ish Kings team I’ve ever seen. Most wins are just eeking it out, against bottom half teams. Few commanding wins.
No emerging young leaders, really…or identity.

Through the decades, there was always a *star or a player that could bring you out of your seat. Dionne, Gretzky, hell, rookie Jimmy Carson. Nicholls scoring 70. Palffy, Demitra even. Then Quick…the cup teams - as a whole - you felt they could take on anyone.

The Kings really needed a star from the 19 Turcotte, 20 Byfield, 21 Clarke drafts, or pulling a 4th round? Quick from a draft. Dealing #1s for Gav / Korpisalo, Faber + 1 for Fiala, Vilardi, #2 + more for PLD…has been a NET MINUS.

Not drafting a single legit high end goalie prospect for 10 ? Years unacceptable. Like they planned on Quick playing out his contact and somehow replacing him in a trade? Good luck w that.
I’m glad they drafted Slukynsky and George, but a shame they didn’t draft even 1 of their caliber in 10 years.

They’d better hope QB finds his game where he should be one of the best players on the ice every night….and not just a part of the rest of the passengers. Have high hopes for Clarke and Greentree. Even Ziemmer. But not talking about elite talent like a Bedard. This team may black hole this yr.

* - through 4 decades of this. I’ve had season seats at forum and staples, until I left LA in 2006.
And hung in there with the 30 win teams. But even then, could at least be fukking entertained.
