Lewis game 983!!!! Our boy is kicking some butt.

Need a big win tonight. 97 went down last night & Oilers got blown out. Need some separation in the standings!!!

Let's see some hits tonight!

We gotta win tonight to maintain our elite status as champions of california....
GO-KINGS-GO

I'm having a hard time thinking about anything but the Dodgers and my beer league game tonight tbh.

And I find myself in a weird position with the Kings. I'm not really too concerned with what happens before the All Star game. Either they are tanking and one step closer to regime change, OR the team is proving us all wrong and playing the right way down the stretch. Those are really the only two sceneries that interest me.

f***ing jaded man.

It's the Kings, they will be there in the middle, the same way that the Miami Dolphins, Milwaukee Brewers and LA Clippers are always there in the middle.

Vanilla, make the playoffs and never do anything teams.

Great to hear Akil will finally get a game. Hopefully this means a 4th line of Lee - Thomas - Jeannot. That's a 4th line I can really get behind.

Unfortunately, we all know it will likely mean Lee watches from the press box despite playing well through his first 9 games and Lewis remains in the lineup despite his poor play. Pretty frustrating. I'd also be surprised if Thomas gets more than 8 mins of ice time. I hate to be negative about this but we've seen it happen countless times over the years. Young players get the short stick while veterans get a nearly endless leash.

Really need to hope Thomas has an excellent game (and ideally notches at least a point) so the Kings are convinced to give him some more games.

Hope it's Fiala sitting
I agree Fiala has been bad but that would be quite extreme after Hiller already benched him for basically the entire 3rd period last game. That was already Hiller sending a clear message to #22 that he needs to be MUCH better. Healthy scratching one of your best players after you already benched him for a period is a bit excessive IMO. I say give Fiala a couple games to see how he responds to the benching and if another message is needed, then you scratch him.

f***ing finally

I havent looked into it, but is this maybe the classic LAK ELC slide on Lee? Not sure his contract status. If so, great then this was an extended tryout and Akil will be the guy going fwd.

ELC slides are only eligible for 18 and 19 year old players so this wouldn't be the case with Lee.

Edit: After double checking, he's actually not on an ELC to begin with. But I wish this was the case for Akil's sake.

My dream was shattered by this fact. I just dont understand why they wouldnt want to see what Akil can bring after seeing him go 3g1a in 7 games. Ill take some scoring touch on the 4th line with a guy that also brings tenacity.

Completely agree. It's frustrating. Akil could bring a lot of speed, tenacity, and a bit of skill to the lineup but the Kings seem almost scared to give it a try.

The Kings could use a little extra skill in the lineup too. As we know they don't really have a true game-breaking superstar in their lineup so they need to rely on depth more than most teams. If Thomas settles in and proves he can be an effective player, that instantly improves the team's depth. Akil should be in the lineup over Lewis every night just on upside/potential alone but we know the current regime isn't going to take risks - They're going to ice the 'safest' lineup possible every night because they desperately need this team to be competitive to have a chance of keeping their jobs.

Side note.... If I'm Thomas, I'm 100% dropping the gloves tonight. It doesn't have to be a big scrap and he definitely doesn't have to win but we know this Kings coaching staff REALLY loves to see a little edge/toughness in a player. Laferriere was honestly MAD smart for fighting in his 1st game (Harvard vibes lol) - I'm sure he knew it would help him win over the coaches and his teammates.

I’m more interested to see if Akil stays in the lineup next game if he doesn’t score a goal or have a multi-point night tonight. Because this seems an awful lot like they’re only playing him to give old Lewis a rest on a back-to-back. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s back to the press box with him for another few weeks after tonight.

Riddle: what retired goalie was known for frequent cup adjustments?

I thought for sure it was gonna be Lee that was sitting.

I'm so happy it's Lewis.

The team is so much more enjoyable to watch when you know a decision is being made based on merit and/or what's best for the future.
