The craziest thing about this is Johnston not being scratched.
But if it finally separates killorn from Leo, let's try it!

Par the course. If we won the cup people would still find something to whine about.

We are so so so far from having to worry about winning a cup bud. There's very real and serious problems, not least of which that all but one kid in our youth core is either stagnating or regressing. But sure, complain about complaining. Everything is going according to plan I guess. If that plan is try to draft first overall. We're one Nashville and Buffalo win away from being bottom 3rd and everything is chill.

I think we're really not appreciating the potential third line center John Gibson can bring to the masterstroke offensive strategy of "just shoot tha puck moaahh"
Gibson just firing the puck on net literally every time he touches it screaming "THIS IS WHAT YOU GUYS DO TO ME," ends the game with twenty shots, fifteen hits, and three fights (one of which was with a teammate).

Meh I'm not that doomsday. New coach and a legit top 6 F would do this team wonders. Not saying champions but we are way closer to being a playoff team than the worst team in the league.

I could just clearly see PV at Cronin right shoulder saying... "we need more scoring on the 4th line". Cronin then shouts "Yes, Drill SGT!" and abruptly put McTavish on thr 4th line.

Actually we’re closer to being in last than a playoff spot right now.
If Gibson or Dostal had even one less game of excellence, we'd be second to last just in the standings.

I'm not posting the metrics again but this team is either dead last or just below San Jose in all the big ones both offensively and defensively other than shots on goal/game. Cronin did manage to get this team to shoot more but it hasn't lifted them out of dead last in goals scored. The objective fact is this team has been kept afloat by goaltending and even that is starting to crumble. Unless something changes, it's not impossible for San Jose and Chicago to pass us in the standings. They're 8 points back with 32 and 35 games left respectively.

To me it's quite clear the kids aren't buying what Cronin is selling. Rightly or wrongly. It's hard to put all the blame on Cronin given the amount of youth on the team who simply do not have the pro experience. There is a reason you hear about buy-in from vets. About knowing what it takes to win. I'm not saying Cronin is a great coach but we have all encountered or even been those kids who know their boss is doing everything wrong and they know exactly what needs to be done and could do it way better. Let's be honest most of the team are all essentially kids still. In the real world you do what your boss tells you even if you disagree with them unless you're breaking laws, doing something unethical, you quit and find a new job or get fired. I would not be surprised in the least if there is some of that going on. We complain about Johnston but he's been publicly praised for attempting to reinforce the coaches plan during games. You think the coach is going to bench the guy who's actually doing what he's asking them to do? Reading between the lines and what's been going on with McTavish you wonder if he may be a decentor among the group. Or maybe just vocal about it? A bit of a reach but I think we can all agree that there is a disconnect with this team.

Not sure about this. From watching the games, I can't blame things on "the kids." Vets make mistakes, take dumb penalties, turn the puck over. Young players make mistakes as well, but are far from the main reason Ducks aren't good. Don't know where you're getting this narrative that vets are listening and "kids" aren't.

I mean, our most successful line is the 3 vet line. And in general they are not really far off from the career averages. I don't know if it is happening just saying I COULD see it being an issue. I think it's fair to question the kids who are supposed to be leading the team but aren't and as other have said, we have seen progress from Lacombe so why him and not the others? Maybe it's just because he's older?

Earlier in the season, there was this in response to the Lyubushkin comments:

Knoll is a bit of a water-carrier for Cronin and is obviously dancing around committing to anything here, but for what it's worth he makes it sound like the opposite problem. I think Cavanagh has also said something about vets with old habits that die too hard.

I liked McTavish with Carlsson. I think McTavish looked less burdened and just played. He seemed more motivated and had clear chemistry with Carlsson. The team always envisioned McTavish as a center but the longer this season goes, the more convinced I am he should be at wing.

Zegras is the exact opposite. He's clearly a center and plays his best hockey in the middle. He also wants to be a center. Carlsson and Zegras should be the two top 6 centers for this team. McTavish, Gauthier, Terry, and whoever Verbeek finds should be the wingers.

We are far from winning a cup.

McDavid lost in the cup finals for the first time his 9th year…. Leon’s 10th.

McKinnon won in his ninth year. Landeskog’s 11th

Barkov won in his 11th…. Reinhart’s 10th…. MT’s 8th.

Stamkos won in his 12th, Hedman’s 11th, Kuch’s 7th.

Our future probable captain at C1 is Leo who is in his 2nd year.

Edit : Buy the ticket, take the ride.
