After seeing what’s going on in Nashville I have no clue why anyone would think it would even be possible for this team to solve their problems via free agency. 90% of it is going to be internal (coaching and prospect development)

There's a different situation here. We have high-end youth with no high-end vets to lead the way. They have the opposite problem.

We have high-end youth
I mean do we? Which of our young players is playing at a level that you could really call “high end”? Maybe Leo? I would argue our biggest problem is that our high draft picks aren’t playing like the stars we drafted them to be. Whether that’s due to coaching, them not being as good we hoped, or something else with their development is up for debate

That's kinda my point. I'm not sure how effectively our high potential young guys can develop without some vets who have made that leap into stardom. I could be very wrong. Largely, I don't want to believe our high draft picks aren't as good as we thought.

Sennecke can not join the NHL until Cronin is gone. like it's just begging for his development to get ruined.
As soon as verbeek fires Cronin 1. He lets the current crop of players off the hook 2. Verbeek himself is let off the hook some 3. Verbeek is under close eye by our owners who he sold Cronin to, to begin with 4. As a result of #1-3 he sells that being a team at the end of a rebuild, we might have to overpay in free agency or trade routes to become a playoff team. Which the Samuelis will green light

I don’t think there’s 0 truth to this idea but if what you or anyone else who feels we should’ve made more of a push is saying is that they believe our young forwards would be playing significantly better this season than they are currently if we had say brought in Stamkos or Marchessault instead of Fabbri then that is something I cannot agree with

Oddly enough I don't think we should've made more of a push, I think they got too much term/money as it is. I'm just lamenting that none of our stars had the will/longevity to still be here to help the next crop of young guys.

I don’t know know exactly you’re referring to but the likes of Getzlaf/Perry/Kesler (the guys who I’d consider “stars”) would be 39/40 at this point, I think even if they had the best late career trajectory possible they really wouldn’t be doing much for this team. It’s been said before but I think the much greater issue is the team’s poor drafting from 2013-2018

Even 40 year-old versions of those guys would be a huge help for the culture of this team. But it's a mix of things like you mentioned. We've failed so badly since Getz/Perry at drafting star-level talent that there was no "next crop" until the Getz/Perry core was gone. Sure we have Terry, but he's a known headcase and probably not the kind of guy the young guys can look up to.

So for a myriad of reasons: I think the lack of a Getz/Perry level star who owns the locker room is a considerable part of the problem with developing our young guys. The other problem is Cronin.

Does Greg hate Leo? Killorn AND Strome? Time for Leo to practice playing 1on5.

Also not really understanding the Cutter demotion. If the message is to shootshootshoot he's at least following directions.
I wouldn’t put Cutter on the 4th line because he and Z were developing some chemistry. I’d sit him for a game but I wouldn’t demote him.

Terry is a "known headcase"? I'm not aware of anything to that effect.

Really? Dude has had (I thought) well documented confidence issues his whole career

Edit: Terry isn't a star on the level of Getz/Perry regardless

Edit #2: it was confidence issues early in his career. Ducks forward Troy Terry’s breakout season comes after early crisis in confidence Of course, every time he struggles now I assume it's a confidence issue.
He had to readjust himself over the summer, too. It’s every year with this guy, constantly in his own head.

Chemistry has been an observable issue this year and both the coach and players have stated it's been a problem directly. How can the players develop chemistry if they keep switching who they are playing with from game to game? Sometimes it's better to leave players together so they can work it out as a line.

It makes me feel like Cronin is spinning and at a loss. The thought process seems to be that if he finds the right combination, everything will magically work. He just seems overwhelmed and unsure of what to do.

His “struggling: is still better than 96% of the rest of the team though. I think “head case” is a bit of a strong term, it usually carries some pretty severe connotations.
