I didn't realize Vaak was hurt, thought they just had him in a bit of a lame Ducks seventh role where he gets passed over by call ups when there's ice time available.
I went to a practice a couple of weeks ago. He was out with Fowler and a couple of coaches/helpers before the full team practice. I'm guessing that means he was "injured".

Vaak has been hurt for a while now and prompted the Helleson call-up, iirc. We've been running 6D roster when at home since Fowler went to IR and Vaak listed as injured, day-to-day. On away games, we've been calling up Hinds as our 7th D. When Fowler returned from IR, then Vaak was placed on IR.

"We’re going to manage it in a real development manner looking at every single one of our young guys. It’s going to provide some more competition within our group which is healthy and that’s how you get better."

Yeah for PV’s load management! Dude thinks he is so smart.
He comes off as someone who wants to try to do things differently for he looks like a visionary but it just ends up making him look like he’s in over his head.

I'm not really sure what the alternative would be

Translation - “I failed miserably at getting veteran players that would allow prospects to overcook the way I say was best, so I put out a face-saving BS post about how it’s best to let them develop in the NHL, but now I have a couple veterans, so I’m gonna make a face-saving BS post about how competition is healthy and that’s the best way to get better”.

Also, Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia.

Other than last season Boldy has been on playoff teams. Zegras for most of his career has been one of two actual legit offensive threats on his whole team.
I think Boldy, Faber, Rossi are one of the reasons Wild are currently good team. They are just good players. (Faber very good). If anybody can drag us out of this slump, its our ''star'' players, so they need to start producing at a rate like other guys around the league.

Well yeah, but they also joined a playoff team. I’m not taking anything away from them they are great players, but they are much more insulated than Zegras. Kind of unfair to Zegras to be tasked to lead a basement team out of the basement, and be held as a standard against guys that were tasked with keeping a playoff team including an actual superstar competitive.

PV has to be the most inept GM in the league. "Competition within our group," which has been competing with each other since early summer?!

Do your job or GTFO, Little Ball of Crap.

Yeah, Boldy is talented kid, but it's a lot easier to look good when you're playing with actual NHL talent like Kirill, Zucc and JEE.
Agreed.

Boldy isn't doing a whole lot with broken down checked out Killorn as a linemate. Having Kirill (who could probably sit out the rest of the season and still have more goals than anyone on the Ducks) probably helps his totals greatly.

They've been competing for spots since last year I recall? There is a total disconnect between staff and players

It's the same ol' schtick from these two morons.

Projecting the forward lines with this team is an interesting exercise in the sense that the team and the coach are unsure about so many things. Is Zegras a winger or center? How about McTavish? Who is Terry's center? Or Gauthier's?

IMO, their number 1 goal with the forward lines is creating strong pairings. They need to solidify Terry with a center and leave them together to create long term chemistry. They need to do the same with Gauthier. I think Zegras is clearly a center unless his chemistry with Carlsson is undeniable. I also think that McTavish should be a winger.

Well we have had 2 lines that have had success for a reasonable length of time:

Vatrano-Strome-Terry
Gauthier-Zegras-Killorn

Besides injuries, the obvious issue with having these 2 lines is that means either Carlsson or McTavish has to play the wing or be the 4C. I know people here don’t mind one of them playing wing, but I would guess that the Ducks staff might care.

It’s been said before but I’d love to see this tried:

McTavish-Carlsson-Leason/Colangelo/Fabbri
McGinn-Lundestrom-Leason/Colangelo/Fabbri
