2024-25 Roster Thread #2: Midseasonnar

Quote from Meltzer:

"Noah Cates is playing the same way now when pucks aren't going in (0 points last 9 games) as he did when he put up 17 points (9g, 8a) in 19 games between Dec. 10 and Jan. 18. Approach is the same, still hustling up chances for himself and linemates. Just no payoff."

Cates is is scoring at 1.34 P/60 at 5on 5 this season. Only Farabee was lower out of the 12 regular forwards.

Yeah but where’s the culture per 60 stat? Cates is getting 45 million dollars in the offseason.

Well its gonna be two weeks before the next game. Afternoon bout against rested Draisaitl, however if things go well Pelletier should be ready to lace them up and be the equalizer.

2 months old, but from 19min is pro scout Dave Brown.

Start through 33min is on his scouting
Says they report on players aged 24 and younger and that is the range they are looking for

"Probably better Luchenko when down". "Bonk will be a good defenseman". "Patience with Michkov, he will get stronger along the way".

Timeline on rebuild depends on how good top players are and mentions this draft and they have to hit. "Get a couple big pieces on front end and couple on back end, then you got a lot to build on then"

"Let's face it, most of these games are won by your top two lines". "Better your prospects, quicker your rebuild is going to be"

And what better way to improve your top lines than encouraging them with grinders

(waiting for this year’s version)

Chuck got rid of Ghost so we could add these two offensive duds

Yandle - 77 GP, 1 G, 18 A, 19 P, -47

Drysdale - 69 GP, 4 G, 13 A, 17 P, -40
Well when you focus on mistakes and not strengths your player eval gets skewed. Can't have ghost scoring 40-50 pts as a defenseman if he loses a board battle here and there. We all know scoring doesn't win games

That was slightly demoralizing. Talks about not making detailed notes on players and that not being his thing. Didn't sound like the smartest dude tbh.
