Well John, that's part of the job of a good coach. During a career, every coach has a season that d doesn't work out as planned. A good coach would let the team know what you're going to do for the rest of the season since they know that they're not in the PO hunt. Like development of player skills; improving the players for their next contract; establishing on ice familiarity between players; getting better at performing in the team's systems; things like team building; etc. Then again, John, maybe you can't do that for whatever reason. If so, John, you can always just check out and let someone else do that work.

We had a floorball game last night we were guaranteed to lose (that team is unbeatable this season, 14-0 record, +120 goal dif). Prior the game our coach just said what he expects from us and drew some plays on the board (mostly zone exits because we sure as heck were guaranteed to get stuck in the zone a lot). ''Yes, we cannot be expected to win here, we are simply not good enough, but let's do X and Y for sake of future''. That's amateur Latvian women floorball. And yet Torts can't get to such level.

Never heard of floorball, but it looks cool.

I can't skate at all but before the pandemic I would play floor hockey at the local gym. When things reopened I didn't go back cause I sick of getting getting hit by slapshots and ending up with giant bruises. We used regular hockey sticks and a ball that was soft, but not that soft.

Floorball sounds like something where your shins would get wildly abused.

Sounds like your team has a better culture than the Flyers, and they've been building it since 1967

Our C depth is laughable, but I am worried the FO is overly focused on that C hunt and is ignoring the big picture. Is there a risk they could try to shoot at the next big thing of a C and not pick someone way better via BPA route?
Not at all. And by that I mean absolutely.
