2024-25 Roster Thread #2: Midseasonnar

They have no interest in Miller, what planet does Kurz live on? Not a single rumor out there.

Briere has made it clear they're still building for the future and have no interest in rentals.
So why would they trade serious assets to add 31 year old Miller with 3yr/$8M left after this season?

Now if I'm a PO team that needs to upgrade my top six, I'd be all over him.
This is the kind of move the Flyers make in 2-3 years, not now.
You THINK they have no interest. You don’t KNOW they have no interest.

Why would they do it? Because they’re morons and this isn’t a rebuild.

They have 18 months to build a contender. That’s ASF and DiMarco’s timeline that they both mentioned yesterday. Not a coincidence.

ASF and Di Marco's timeline?
That would be the 2016-17 season.

I think they want to make the playoffs by then, but I'll still contend the real target is 2017-18, because that's when the 2015 draft will arrive and start making real contributions (age 20-21).
Some by the fall, some after a half season in the AHL, some not until 2018-19.

Miller would be 33 in 2016, 34 in 2017. Doesn't exactly fit their timeline.

You’re a decade off.

Unless you copied and pasted an old post from back then because you posted the same things back then in perpetuity.

Two media members mentioned 18 months to contend on the same day. We know how the Flyers operate with media members. It’s not a coincidence. They’re fed these things. It’s what the organization believes.

This organization wants to go.

“It’s more than one year and less than four.” - Keith Jones in May of ‘23.

It gets worse.

We are now on three successive management groups that are worse than their predecessors. Holmgren (et al) > Hextall (et al) > Fletcher (et al) > Briere (et al).

This kind of statement from Jones is bonkers and honestly disqualifying if I'm his boss.

How do they continue to get dumber?

Maximum Pain™️ was coined. It’s a regret I’ll have the rest of my life. Damn you, Covid.

That initial 3 year timeline we were all gobsmacked at since they were doing nothing at all to build for it is in place. They think starting next season and DEFINITELY the one after, they're going to be contenders. In their minds the rebuild is already all but over.

Why did the team pay to bring EJ last deadline? Why haven't they traded a single player they weren't forced to? Why did they sign a 25 year old 50 point winger for 8 years?

Because they aren't as all in on rebuilding as you say they are. The same reason they would consider trading for Miller, and the answer to your question.

They think every one of these players will be relevant in a year and a half, when they expect to take the league by storm.

I wonder how unhinged they get when it's yet another wet fart year? They're going to blame the fans again.

I 100% believe what that idiot posted.

That thinking is exactly what the Flyers are and they don’t hide it.

Despite being a herd of compulsive liars, the Flyers are actually pretty easy to see through. The comments that align with what they're actually doing, those are the truths. Everything else is the lies.

They have never come to grips with how you build a contending team when dealing with a hard cap. So, they will continue to fluctuate between average to bad until they do.

It’s really that simple.

Room temperature IQ.

Deadhead right now with Kurz using arbitrary dates to prove some point.

I will say it again.
Imagine the stupidest thing that the organization could do….now prepare for it to be worse.
exactly... they will ALWAYS choose the worst of 2 options..

MM being the only right choice. and that only happened cuz MTL. screwed up.

HAHAAA POST of the century ^^^ im legit belly laffing at how on point that meme is...

Here's what would worry me, Vancouver is neck to neck with Calgary for the last PO spot.
However, you'd have to be crazy to think they're getting past the first round.
So why would you be willing to trade Petersson?
Trading Miller makes more sense given his age and contract, he'll have real value for a SC contender.

The problem of course is that Vancouver is pretty much built to win the next few years:
Boeser (27), DeBrusk (28), Garland (28), Bleuger (30), Suter (28), Sherwood (29), Heinen (29), Hoglander (24), Karlsson (25)
Hughes (25), Hronek (27), Myers (34), Soucy (30), Forbort (32), Juulsen (27), Brannstrom (25)

Which means either blow it up or get NHL ready players back for Petersson/Miller.
