Yep, intangib
It's BS. No quote from anyone, even an anonymous source.
Gauthier was an unusual situation, and the frustration was as much not being able to negotiate a solution as pique b/c he didn't want to be a "Flyer."
To project from that is a stretch.

Any good FO looks for players who are good fits for organizational philosophy before committing to them for the long-term. You want your core players to be on the same page, b/c these are your big minute guys. You can work around "specialists," guys with useful skills who need to be sheltered. But you don't commit term and big money to these guys.
Toughness matters. Two things about Michkov:
1) he's competitive and nasty, numerous teams have run at him and he won't back down
2) his teammates have immediately responded when he's been run at, and he knows they have his back

Forget fighting and that crap, it's about "I won't back down", refuse to be intimidated and don't watch passively when a teammate is the target of a cheap shot.

I think that's the sort of thing Briere calls "being a Flyer", not size, but snarl - TK has always been that kind of player. Briere played at a time when a small guy would be constantly hooked, slashed, elbowed, etc., and you had to play through it. He probably sees toughness differently than say Jones.
Yep, intangible, playing the Flyers way with snarl! Yea like we did in the 70's. That's Flyers hockey. That's what makes them the gold standard in the NHL according to Jones.

Seriously dude, could you possibly be more indoctrinated?

Did you watch the Flyers in the 1970s?
They played with a lot more than snarl.

But there was a reason, when they had players like Simon Nolet and the "French line," teams like the Bruins used to beat the snot out of them.
So they drafted some mean ass MFs and set them loose on the league in response.

The modern NHL is a different animal.

"Snarl" is more about the willingness to go to the boards and the dirty area in front of the net, even if you're not the biggest guy on the ice. Fighting for puck possession up and down the ice. And not be intimidated. TK is a perfect example.

That article doesn't tell you anything about "them."
It's pure speculation.

And the reference didn't even mention "loyalty." Just projected that players getting up to play Anaheim (more the crowd than anything else) reflected "pride."

I'd say coming back against Florida reflected "buy-in" and a never quit attitude.
It isn't speculation, it's reporting from a very reliable Flyers source.

It was the Blues that beat the Flyers up enough to bring about the Bullies. But the fact they still try to kiss the rings they won is why this team is in limbo.

Funny how everyone remembers the Bullies and the Big Bad Bruins that were brought about by the Blues being the instigator of it all.

Severelli is speculating, he's not quoting anyone, even an anonymous source.
He's projecting from the Anaheim game, which was driven by the crowd.
Nor did he mention "loyalty," he talked about "pride."

It was the author of the piece who then turned that into a misleading headline.

If you look at this team, there's little evidence that anyone is looking back.
The most physical players, Hathaway, Risto and Seeler. None is a Wilson or Martin. DeLo glued to the bench.
Only other "big" players, Couts, Foerster, Tippett, Sanheim.

DeLo is on IR not glued to the bench unless they got some doctor to do schiesty paperwork to get him on IR.

And the other guys you named with him are all here because this team will never move on. Try to hand wave it away all you want. It's why they payed those crappy contracts for the term they have when they should have been 1 year deals to be able to move on from them at any trade deadline to improve the roster.

The wheels on the bus....

Keep telling yourself that. Nobody wages more war on the reality of the Flyers than you. Your predictions might actually happen sometimes if you'd just embrace the facts

I'm going to fill you in on an indisputable truth. This entire organization, not necessarily all the players. Needs to be wiped clean. Needs to be eradicated like a disease. Their philosophies, strategies, methods, etc, across the board are archaic and obsolete. Led by a dinosaur of a coach and an alumni that has infested this team like rats in a sewer. Until they do, they will never win or come close to winning squat.
Their propaganda is targeted to fans like you who buy into their nonsense. They have no clue what the modern day NHL is about.

He is not speculating. He is being spoon fed a message and is being an intermediary so to speak. That's how these things work. Flyers have culture up their ass.
