That's not what I meant, rather, that too often bluegrass and jazz musicians put proficiency before "soul."
I'm a big Miles Davis fan (before the 1970s).
A great comment of his was "Don't play what's there; play what's not there."
Though this may go back to Claude DeBussy.

“Anybody can play. The note is only 20 percent. The attitude of the motherf***r who plays it is 80 percent.”

I read this as "Kenny G sucks" and it makes me happy.

I watched the documentary that Penny Lane got him to participate in, absolutely loved it, and hated him even more than I did going in. I got everything I wanted out of it.

You dislike bluegrass AND Jazz?! You're like the polar opposite of who I am in every aspect of life.

If you think jazz and bluegrass lack soul, then you need to listen to better jazz and bluegrass music. Like Jojo said, every genre has good music if you dig deeper than the surface.
Someone has actually made this claim? WTF world am I in?
Edit: sounds like someone has very narrow definitions

Oh dear. My brain deleted these memories in the name of self-preservation.

The best thread title ever:

Man I'm so glad the Flyers prioritize great team guys instead of actually good players. We need a Seeler fanatic now

I only chose that bluegrass version to to a personal WTF moment. I was walking through Kings Island amusement park outside Cincinnati. I got to the Rivertown area of the park and that was playing over the speakers. I looked at my friend and laughed. Then it was followed by bluegrass versions of other popular songs. I just wanted to die laughing as some were even more like "Oh no they didn't"

I've never understood this argument, and I've heard it my whole life because of the music I tend to listen to.

Just because you don't hear the "soul" in something proficient, doesn't mean it isn't there.

There's room for soul in all music.

Well, *almost* all music

That's who they should try their best to sign next postseason as a center option for Michkov. The dude is soon-to-be 23 and 2nd in goals in the KHL right now with 26 goals after 44 games. Kinda reminds Stamkos, and Stamkos and Kucherov (who Michkov reminds) were pretty good together.

I would suggest GDT songs that reflect the state of the franchise over the last decade.

Thus, I would go with a mashup of Yoko Ono, William Shatner and the sound of a thousand fingernails being scraped across a blackboard.

Could also do a lofi recording of Kate Smith singing God Bless America while a couple old white guys blow smoke up 20,000 people's asses.

Didn't the Flyers add a well connected Russian to their staff?

Yep. This guy.

Dude is definitely well connected and probably knows the KHL like the back of his hand.

Right, only defective mutants like Avril Lavigne. Everything else has some value whether it's to my taste or not.

When you get past 2,000 CDs on your hard drive (I don't stream, I think the album/CD is the proper mode) you start getting selective. While I'll listen to anything once, as I age, I am less interested in novelty.

I don't spend time on "snobbishness" though I do understand it when you're young, it's a way of "belonging."
Now I've come to appreciate well made "Pop" music as much as "alternative."
I mean 10CC hit it on the nail: "Art for art's sake, money for God's sake."
Or why I never took Punk seriously, they still charged at the door.
