"In the KHL, there's lots of looping and swinging, and speed. I already know a couple of things that we're going to have to work on with Michkov to get him ready to play the North American style of game" - Armstrong

"[Lyksell] wants to play a possession game and turn back with the puck at times. It was a habit that he had to break" - Flahr

Vegas game when Torts put the current lines/pairs together. That was 9 games ago.
5-3-1, but great metrics.
xGF 60.49% (2), HDCF 60.98% (3), PP xGF/60: 5.12% (32), PK xGA/60: 11.92 (29), (xGA - GA)/60: +0.48
Schedule (point %):
Vegas (3), @Nash (31), NYR (20), @STL (23), FLA (7), @Bos (14), Utah (21), @CBJ (24), Det (27)
So some of this is an artifact of a weaker stretch in the schedule.

The PP and PK were so bad that they can only improve, and the goaltending was well below average.

Curious to see if this is sustainable and if the 25 and under players are as good as they've looked recently with these new lines/pairs:
Frost xGF 72.30%, HDCF 70.18%
Cates xGF 65.44%, HDCF 66.37%
[Couts xGF 50.34%, HDCF 51.57%]

Michkov xGF 66.45%, HDCF 59.73%
Brink xGF 63.91%, HDCF 66.86%
Foerster xGF 66.84%, HDCF 67.50%
Tippett xGF 70.13%, HDCF 65.41%
Farabee xGF 55.23%, HDCF 55.74%

York xGF 56.10%, HDCF 59.16%
Andrae xGF 64.61%, HDCF 62.21%
Zamula (4), Drysdale (3), Grans (3)

Random question of the day.

What do you folks think about the Brayden Schenn trade all these years later?

Schenn and Cocaine King Lehtera for Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee.

The article below basically says it's about as even a trade as you can get.... thoughts?

AIR, Couturier had outplayed Schenn to earn the #2 center spot behind G. The Flyers felt that Schenn could be the 3C or possibly move to the wing which he did not want to do. Instead of letting this situation sour, the trade was made. I have no issue with it. We'll see what Frost really is when either he gets dealt or Tortorella is no longer behind the bench to rag on him.
The Farabee thing is puzzling. He was worth his draft order at the time and even after that. When Giroux was dealt he was asked who was the best offensive player left on the roster and his response was Farabee. I'm sure that the neck surgery has had an impact on his development. Still he just can't seem to get out of his own way at times. While dis defense has become good, he should be a lot better of an offensive player than he is showing right now. That stretch pass that he made to TK on Tuesday night was a thing of beauty and shows that he has the skills. For whatever reason, they're not coming out right now. Perhaps he needs a change of scenery.

The PP has been bad for 4 straight years... actually worse than bad, it's f***ing horrible. No matter how many times you try and gaslight everyone saying it can only improve doesn't magically make it improve. There's absolutely no trend of it improving

Not saying that Rocky shouldn't have been let go a while ago but (1) they don't have anyone that is willing to be a presence in front of the goalie that can handle deflections or rebounds. That's before you get into (2) how poorly most of the forwards handle the puck. They're not good at either passing or receiving it. Add to that, (3) Tortorella's mandate against cross ice passes and the PP is doomed under these circumstances.

Buffalo has been bad for like a decade and a half, it doesn't mean they are magically going to improve for no reason.

It's the same team, how's the PP going to magically improve?

Nowhere to go but up.

There are some young players who should figure it out at some point, Michkov, Drysdale, Andrae, Brink. Couts is learning to be a net front presence and Foerster down the road.

Essentially dont try to score cause if you dont its a turn over. May as well never shoot the puck onto the net at all then cause if the other team gets the rebound its a turn over. Good lord.
Wait until Tortorella sees the kid of low danger shots Tippett likes to force, I bet he'll be publicly lashed and then benched forever!
