It's not meaningless. He takes up a roster slot. He costs against the cap. He's a multimillion dollar cheerleader that costs against the team's salary cap. That matters.
But it's especially not meaningless because you say in another post that, "...there is no room at the inn."
Delicious irony.
THIS so many times this! How can one be meaningless but yet have so many roster effects. Every roster spot is important.
How can one not understand a rotation of 8 players means each player misses one game in 7 so that's not making the player you want to evaluate sit too much or even sitting any player of those 8 since really Laughton, Hathaway, Poehling, Cates, Brink, Farabee, Foerster along with Richard could rotate one game off while the rest play. Maybe this wakes up the guys people feel are not carrying their weight and also keeps players fresh throughout the season. This team has enough to play special teams through this rotation so I don't want to hear that's why you can't sit Laughton, Hathaway, Poehling. or Cates. You got Coots, TK, Frost to fill in the spots to get to 6 PK forwards.
Same thing with EJ on Defense he's taking a valuable spot that you could have had other filled and then got to rest guys while still icing a competent roster and special teams.
