Prospect Info: 2024-25 Prospects Thread (CHL/NCAA/Euro)

Khanin was a one-man show today. Kid shows his impressive IQ offensively. Passing is off the charts. Too strong for that league or that opponent was weak as shit.

But....there's no pro without bulking up. Big time.

Pass 0:13
Magnus Pääjärvi PS Goal 2:59
Kapanen Ready for Baseball 5:55
Sets Up Goal/Call Off 7:22
Shot 8:11
Assist 9:26

I like him, he plays the right way. Kind of like Luostarinen in Florida. He just needs to get Suzuki's strength coach and Hallanders skating coach, guys improved his speed a lot since 2018 (Hallanders). Kapanen gets where needs to, but a little more speed and beef would help his style of play. No issues with the IQ though.

Been a bit for me to post on here, but tonight was game 2 of the Giants' 1st round series against Spokane and Thorpe had a goal. He was the last piece of a near miraculous comeback that saw the team enter the 3rd period down 6-1 and get as close as 6-5 with 3 minutes left before they just couldn't seal the deal

I thought Thorpe looked pretty good for most of the game, and in a series that has been a lot more physical and aggressive he's done a good job of asserting himself along the walls. He did have a cringe moment right at the end as 3 Giants including him converged on the puck that was flipped out of the attacking zone and they ended up basically doing a 3 stooges routine crashing into and falling all over each other. But otherwise he was quite engaged.

It's just a shame that Spokane is basically a team that just bludgeons you to death with offence. In both games so far the Giants come out strong to start but can't keep pace and fade in the 2nd period.

There still are potentially at least 2 games to go with the next 3 all scheduled for Spokane on Wednesday and next weekend (the Chiefs are the higher seed, but their arena was busy this weekend because of the Women's March Madness tournament, so the Giants started at home and the schedule will be 2-3-1-1 instead of the familiar 2-2-1-1-1 home ice rotation.

But if you want to watch the carnage, the WHL is making their entire playoffs free on the Victory+ app, which will apparently be their new streaming home instead of CHL tv. You don't even need to sign up to use it.

I should've put this with my previous post, but here's a link to Victory+'s full highlight package of game 2 of Spokane/Vancouver, which also doubles as a way to get you to the site where you can watch the future games if you wish (it also has an app that appears to be available for most devices.) They may ask you to log in but you don't have to to watch the WHL stuff, you can continue as a guest and it's all open and accessible.

The remaining series schedule is

Game 3: Wednesday @ Spokane, 7pm Pacific/10pm Eastern
Game 4: Thursday @ Spokane, 7pm Pacific/10pm Eastern
Game 5: Saturday @ Spokane, 6pm Pacific/9pm Eastern*
Game 6: Monday @ Vancouver, 7pm Pacific/10pm Eastern*
Game 7: Wednesday @ Spokane, 7pm Pacific/10pm Eastern*
*if necessary

So there's some free late night hockey for you guys if you want. And opens up viewing opportunities for any other WHL prospects you might have as well.

EDIT:

Turns out the highlights are on the whl YouTube channel too
