Prospects in action today (Jan. 18th):

- Gordin already played (no pts in a 3-2 SO win)
- Kapanen @ 9:15AM ET
- Eriksson @ 9:15AM ET
- Bergqvist @ 9:15AM ET
- Rohrer @ 1:45PM ET

- Protz @ 4PM ET
- Vecvanags @ 6PM ET (we'll see if he gets the start as it's a back-to-back for AB Titan)

- Mittlestadt @ 6PM ET
- Fowler vs. Sawyer @ 7PM ET
- Croteau @ 7PM ET (expect him to be the back-up today is it's a back-to-back for Darthmouth. However, after his shutout, maybe he starts again?)
- Hage @ 7:30PM ET
- Smith @ 8PM ET

Neither Eriksson nor Bergqvist are in the line-up for Vaxjo and Skelleftea, respectively. Last game, both teams played each other, but they were both not in the line-up. Not sure if they're injured or healthy scratches.

Sean Shapiro, former Athletic writer, had this to say about Jacob Fowler:
"To be clear, Jacob Fowler plays for one of the best teams in college hockey, so we have to take that into account when looking at his..stats..."
"He doesn’t face a heavy workload at Boston College, but I love the way Fowler rises to the big moment when needed and doesn’t lose focus when the puck spends long stretches on the other end of the rink. I personally think this is a vital skill to reach the NHL, being able to set your own rhythm and not having to rely on volume to get into games."

When he plays for the Habs, he might be facing more shots!

Makes it all the more important for him to get a couple seasons in Laval, to get a different experience.

- Protz with an assist so far. Brantford up 2-1 after 2.

- Thorpe opens the scoring for Vanocuver.

Thorpe's 17th goal of the season

He had a strong offensive game overall. A few minutes before that he had a near breakaway that he couldn't convert on and then in the 3rd he had another break that drew a hooking call. Plus he had a couple of good shots in traffic. Just the one goal but legitimately like 4 or 5 scoring chances that were largely generated by his effort, plus he was extremely physical and laid out some big hits (and one big reverse hit where a Brandon player went to take him out along the boards near the Giants' bench and just sorta bounced off of him and crumpled to the ice )

Are a bunch of offensive rush chances the thing you need out of a guy that might project to be a 4th liner in the pros? No. But it was still fun.

Much appreciate your reports. Because most look at the stats and when they see certain numbers, they think the player is shit and was a terrible pick and Habs should have taken someone else whose stats pop. But they fail to realize that for certain prospects, it's not the stats that tell the story. I think Thorpe is one of those prospects.
