that would have been the 1st ever SO for Croteau in the NCAA until his own teammate knocked the puck into his net in the final 5 mins of the game. While he was on the ice he kicked the Princeton skater and was ejected from the game. wild, don't think i've ever seen that before.

Logan Sawyer show really intriguing potential!! 5 pts in 9 games, not bad at all!

I hadn't paid much attention to Sawyer last year so I've watched a couple of his games in the NCAA this year to try and see if what our scouts said about Sawyer's "top-6 upside" was true; and long story short it is.

Unfortunately, there's a caveat to that, and of course there would be when it comes to a prospect that was still available after the first two rounds of the NHL draft.

For those who haven't seen him play, Sawyer is simply put still very, very raw. He looks like the kind of player that only started playing Hockey when he was 12-13.

But the offensive toolset, the "touch" on Sawyer's passes, the skill plays to shield the puck, the quick reads, the skating, it was all there on display when I checked-in. And I don't know about you, but those to me pretty much scream "top-6 upside", stats notwithstanding.

All of that was the positive, but in those same games I also saw Sawyer "force the play" quite a few times where a simple pass and working on cycle/possession would have worked a lot better, get straight-up outmuscled in various areas of the ice, lose board battles that he had body placement AND angle advantages on, lose his man in coverage more than once, backcheck way too gingerly, get lost "puck-watching", fail to block passing lanes, and more besides.

It was only a couple games, but those flaws that Sawyer exhibited made me realize that he'll require time, and a lot of it, before he's anywhere near ready for the pro leagues. Even if Sawyer starts filling-in the stat-sheet for some reason he needs the reps and time in the NCAA to work on those fundamentals if he ever wants to even sniff an NHL locker room.

So yeah, it's still very early days, but I think that even with good development Sawyer will need at least another 2-3 more years in the NCAA before he turns pro.

Hopefully Sawyer turns out good for us, but at this point he should be considered a "secondary" boom/bust prospect for us until he shows more polish in all three zones for Providence.

Looks like Eriksson is in the doghouse

I wondered what was up when he didn't play.

Also a heads up, your Ben Merrrill page has him scoring 2 goals on 11-5 but they were shutout, the totals are right are though as he has 8 goals which is what you show but if you went and counted all the goals it would be 10
