Not very many players ever hit their ceiling.
Bednarik hitting his would be f***ing awesome.
I don't care about the stick tricks for themselves, but only for what they indicate. A lot of 12 year olds can do pretty cool tricks with high throws, stick twists, etc. with lacrosse sticks/balls on sidewalls of heads. What's good about it isn't the trick, but the fact that they are practicing with the stick in their hands when they are by themselves is more important than the tricks themselves.
His combination of release, velocity, and accuracy with those one timers requires practice for sure, but practice alone won't get anyone there.
Isles prospect busting chops of future Islanders 4th overall pick (after taking Schaefer #1 overall).
I'll repost something that I posted on the main prospect board:I still think Hagens gets unfair criticism. I don’t see many people mention that he went into his first year of college as a 17yr old and finished his freshman year as an 18 yr old. Probably took him awhile to adjust and many said his second half was better after coming back from world juniors. If you look at guys on that list like Smith, Cooley, Leonard and Perrault, they were 19 when they finished their freshman year. Celebrini and Fantilli were similar age as Hagens but I think people agree he’s not on their level.
Hagens is a beast.I'll repost something that I posted on the main prospect board:
FWIW in their draft years here are team goal differentials:
Celebrini (BU) 163GF and 97GA; and
Hagens (BC) 125GF and 65GA.
I think Celebrini's ridiculous numbers last year (and Lane Hutson a few years ago) have altered people's perceptions of what's expected. Johnny Gaudreau was a PPG player in his D+1 year (I know he wasn't a 1st round pick, but look at his NHL production). Cale Makar had 21 points in 34 games in his D+1 year.
Hagens at a PPG clip in Hockey East (for a team that obviously cared about defense) and 9 points in 7 WJC games (prior to being drafted) is historically very good.
I’m just trying to defend him I guess. He was 1OA coming into this season and he shouldn’t drop below 3 in my opinion because he didn’t score more than a ppg. Yea maybe hes not 1st overall this draft but I don’t think hes lower than 3. Seeing him in the 5-8 range is silly to me. I know he might drop due to what teams want but just ranking him amongst his peers, he should be higher. Ok rant over lol.I'll repost something that I posted on the main prospect board:

We need to find a way for Both Schaefer AND Hagens. Wouldn’t us up so nicely.Imagine if we draft Hagens and these 2 click together like they did in the juniors. That is not only a marketers dream for the Islanders it would be for the NHL/ESPN/TNT as well
