2024-25 Prospect Thread

One thing I will say about Calum Ritchie is whether he excels or not - he is an asset that can be developed or flipped to further the retool.

I like Cal’s game. The puck looks like a magnet on him. His stick skill look elite. I’m glad we have a top-20 prospect and a 1st rounder to add to Eisy.

Something else his presence makes me think of:
Like with the Romanov deal a few years ago, it's always a possibility that Lou would move a 1st rounder, even one in the top 10, to get a young, controllable NHL player (forward) who can jump right into the line-up. BUT if he sees Ritchie as being pretty doggone close, knowing that each of Nelson, Finley, and Eiserman will need to be brought in with perspective fairly soon as well, he may be more inclined to let his staff make the pick.

Of course, any trading of Dobson would presumably be to bring in such a young forward as well.

So, there's that...

Been listening to a lot of opinions on Hagens, where he should go and the judgement of how he looks as a freshman vs Celebrini. In looking at this, and checking his numbers where he played with Eiserman the previous two years, I couldn’t help but wonder if we legit got a steal in Eiserman. Again I try not to get high but his goal output as a freshman is actually nuts.

I also think I’d keep Hagens in the top three. I think Shaffer is a little overrated purely because I’m watching judgements on Hagens and how he finished the year and the world juniors but meanwhile Shaffer has been hurt and as a result is escaping criticism.

I’m also not a big fan of Martone. If we win the lottery and pick third I’d take any of Shaffer, Misa or Hagens. I’d also rather have Eklund. Edit, not Eklund, the other Swede. Also this post should be in the 25 draft thread, my bad.

I’m hoping we see Eiserman on the team at the end of his college season next year similar to Leonard and Perreault.
We probably should since he most likely won’t be going back to college. I just hope we don’t play him enough games that it’ll burn a year off his contract

Oshawa wins 4-1. Now leads the series 3-1 and look to close it out on Friday.

Ritchie with 1 assists +2 and good on faceoffs.

Now has 6pts in 4gp in playoffs.

1g 5a 6pts
By all accounts he’s NHL ready next year? I know Lou said as much but no chance he’s AHL bound to start?

Anything’s possible. He played 7 games for the AVS and word is he didn’t look badly out of place. I certainly wouldn’t rule out the AHL. A lot also depends on what direction the teams going this summer.

I don’t feel the need to rush him

If what he does leads to production, meaning he truly has a keen sense of finding teammates in scoring positions, then he could be ready for a sheltered role.

I wouldn't call his skating or physicality up to par yet.
That was a very useful clip. Sennecke is a more dynamic player, but he's also kind of messy. Ritchie's handle on the re-entry off a bad pass was really nice. Then he handled that really hard pass as well as one could, and whipped a nice pass across to a teammate he thought would be there.

Looked kinda like Josh Bailey. 🎣
