Hasn't it been reported by @The Mars Volchenkov that he doesn't want to come over and play in the A?

I don’t recall reading that.

The Avs would never hand him an NHL spot guaranteed without proving himself in the AHL for at least a season.

My ideal situation:

25/26 Avs: Blackwood/Wedgewood
25/26 Eagles: Nabokov starter

26/27 Avs: Blackwood/Nabokov

Yeah, I think this is the most likely plan/hope they have. Wedge will have to play poorly or have an injury for them not to go with him next year. This is pretty clearly a two year plan with the Wood duo.

Giving Nabokov a year in the AHL, while Wedgewood's deal is up after next season anyway, so the timing works perfectly for Nabokov to get a chance at earning the backup role.

How long of a swim is it from Magnitogorsk to the Colorado River?

Also, I loved this quote: "Andrei Vasilevskiy, Sergei Bobrovsky, Igor Shesterkin—these are Russian goalies who have won the Vezina Trophy as the best goalies in the NHL regular season, and I want to join them," Nabokov said to RG in July.

Kid...it's a long way to the top...

Godspeed...

Zellers is trending well. Very much a boom/bust type of prospect, but you have to love his confidence and that jersey number when scoring goals. Will be intriguing to watch when he makes the transition to college

Yeah, I don't think we'll really know what we have in Zellers until we see him in the NCAA. He's got flashy numbers in the USHL and high school, but the NCAA is a tougher league these days.

I would like to know why he didn't play in the NCAA this season. He turns 19 in a couple of months, did he finish high school late or something? Did no schools want him?

Nice to see production no doubt, but it feels pointless and as if he's a full year behind in terms of player development.

He's committed to UND for next year, and I believe he has been since before he was drafted. The gap year is a little confusing, but it's not the first time we've seen that happening with a prospect. IIRC Clurman and Romaine both did their D+1 years in the USHL as well before going to college. I would guess that he wants to have an intermediate step between Shattuck and the NCAA instead of going right from high school to there, but that's only my best guess and isn't based on anything but a hunch.
