Mods, pretty please pin this? And you can unpin the prospect poll main thread as well, that's all wrapped up now.

Makes me wonder if Blockbuster made more a year in fees for not rewinding tapes, than Jo Drouin made in salary last year?
If you add in late return fees, I can almost guarantee they did (probably from my boat alone one year). We deployed for an emergency underway to go out to sea and dive under a hurricane rather than sit in port and have it blow in over us while moored to the pier. It was supposed to be like 2 or 3 days, ended up being over a month because the piers got damaged and we could come home. *LOL*

I think the poor store manager at Blockbusters had to listen to over a dozen of us that got stuck with movies out on rental while this happened and the late fees mounted quick. I even asked if I could just buy the damn thing because it would've been cheaper. *LOL* She was a gem though and waived the fees for us after laughing at the whole thing.

Nikita Ishimnikov has played the last 3 games for his KHL team and TOI increasing little by little. Honestly didn’t expect this considering he had like 5 points in 50ish games across the 3 different Russian leagues. Didn’t think he’d be on KHL radar. I know production/points isn’t everything but I mean it also kind of has to be to a degree.

What kinda minutes is Gulyayev getting so far in the KHL? Only has 1 point in 9 games looking at EP.

He's not up the lineup much (bottom pairing mostly), and hasn't been good enough this year to have a bigger role. It's early though.

It speaks more to the KHL than anything else. Ishimnikov doesn't skate nearly well enough to have much of a chance in North America.

Russian development of defensemen with Gulyayev's skill set is a very large question. I really wish he would have the ability to come to NA ASAP. There's always still a chance of busting... but his skill set fits the NA game much better and even playing in the CHL would help nurture it.

I think hes just a trade chip. BPA and then traded for a developed prospect with lower upside or a role played.
Then they drafted the wrong guy for that. He wasn't ever going to build much hype in Russia due to how they develop defensemen. Along with that, his contract situation makes it more difficult to use him for rentals last season and this season. Teams tend to hate waiting. So they have a guy that you have to wait for... and won't be building hype due to how Russia develops players.

IMO they grabbed Gulyayev to directly replace Girard in 27-28.

Something tells me that is not going to be a lateral change and will end up being a downgrade. But then again in 27-28 who gives a shit. The window on championships closes this summer or next. Of course, we'll still be a playoff team for years to come but actually competing for the cup? We've got at most 2 kicks at the can left from what I can see.
