It’s at a point where it may be better for the Sharks to have Dallas win over Edmonton, lose in the Finals, and get their 3rd rounder instead of Winnipeg’s 4th rounder since the difference is 31 or 32 with a 3rd or 29 or 30 with Winnipeg’s 4th.

Yes, I think this could be possible. An objective, rational look at the facts, with all the information (much of which is only available to the Winnipeg staff), could conclude that this was a fluke.

But the status quo fallacy exists. They will look for ways to justify not blowing things up, and Hellebuyck probably gave them enough ammunition to make that argument.
