GDT: 2024 25 Other Games Around the League

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

if the Hawks go up 6 points on us, I don't think we catch up.

Go Hawks.
Next priority is seeing how Dallas' playoff run goes. Best we can hope for if the standings are like this when the playoffs start is pick 23 and that only happens if Dallas and all the division winners lose in the first two rounds. Ideally, Colorado reaches the CF's beating Dallas and the winner of the Winnipeg-WC series. That would also net the Sharks a 4th round pick instead of a 5th from the Blackwood trade. Getting 23rd overall would make it a hell of a lot easier to move up into the top 15.

With how these things are being handed out, I wonder if the league will eventually have new rules regarding NTC/NMC clauses.

1) Max number of these clauses per/team
2) They get removed if a player accepts a trade
3) Option for a team to "buy" out clause

The owners would need to give the players something to do something like this.

Pretty sure #2 is still a thing, hence why heatley was allowed to be freely moved to the wild.

It is just that the team receiving said player can keep the clause or remove it.

If the goal of the CBA is cost certainty, there's no reason to limit the number of non-monetary bargaining chips the owners can give out. NMCs seem like more of an inconvenience than a real obstacle to getting a guy off the roster at this point, and I'd bet that most GMs see them as something "other guys" give out like candy while the "smart guys" use them to their advantage.

Yeah disappointed Hawks couldn’t hold on. Fortunately, I think the Rangers and Kings will both beat us for their playoff hopes/positioning. McDavid and Drai should hopefully return before next Thursday too. Other than the Ducks/Kraken, all of our April opponents will want to beat us. So that is ideal.
