Canadian viewers don't bring in the same revenue since the big advertisers aren't as interested in the market as they are with comparable American ones.
From the most recent numbers I can find, the Jays viewership is nearly double the next highest (the Yankees). Even if advertisers value American eyes twice as much as Canadian eyes, the Yankees most recent reported TV revenue was $143 million in 2022.

Maybe I'm vastly underestimating how much advertisers pay for American viewers or something, but it sure seems like Rogers is making at least an extra $100 million or so off the Jays that isn't being reported as revenue for the team.

To be clear, I have way less of a problem with this now that the Jays seem to be interested in spending with the big boys.
