Blue Jays Discussion: 2024-25 Off-season: The free agent watch begins (and sometimes old baseball radio broadcasts)

Serious Dexter vibes, he's kinda a combination of Dexter meets Martha Stewart ....

It is insane to think that even if they add Bregman and Alonzo, they might not even be a 90 win team. they wont add both, so is the signing only about getting buts in seats to watch the Scherzer show? After all they do have a newly renovated park and need to pay the bills so maybe ....
The road to 85+ wins goes through the SS, imo. If he’s back to being himself they have a chance.

That’s true for 80 % of the league though especially if a team loses lose one or two of their top players.
There are many factors that contribute to sub-500 seasons.

If you check the exchange rate on that we are spending around 380m canadian and they are willing to spend more this does not include the luxury tax no matter how you look at we will be spending more then any team on the league
If we sign alonso or bring in other players we can see the jays spend around 600m canadian wich is crazy

Not if you look at it from a math point of view.

Yet, they still might not win 81 games.
If you take last year's team and just fix the bullpen, they're a .500 team. Get Bo back to normal and they're easily in the mid-80s. Now they've added Santander and Scherzer.

Like literally every team in the league, things may go poorly and they may not meet expectations. But this team is set up well enough that they should be able to win at least 85-90 games.

That's like 42,303,937,494 Japanese Yen. Wow we're really spending a lot.

I'm the best! Never go home with my pants though... not sure if that is due to old age or being Fun Guy...

I was just thinking that , thanks for posting.

So say they add a Bregman or Alonzo, would that project them to be ahead of the Orioles or the Yanks?

Neither guy gets their projections ahead of the Yankees, but Bregman gets them close.

I still prefer Alonso though. Those bombs along with Santander, Vlad, and Bo would make for a really entertaining season.

I think Basset was somewhat unlucky, he seemed to be just a hair away from getting out of jams. Gauzman, not sure what happened to him (K's were way down) I think if they can get another bat and some of the under achievers just perform at mid levels. I expect Vlad to have a little regression, Bo and Springer are just too competitive to not work their asses off through the Winter to get stronger/better. I expect those two to improve. Kirk was a ghost of his hitting past, i think maybe he takes a step forward from last year. I think this team , even if it plays like last year, with just slight improvements from Springer, Bo and kirk, this team is an 80 win team.

Imagine Bregman Gold Glove at 3B, Jiminez Gold Glove at 2B, Gold Glove Guerrero at 1B, Varsho/Straw gold glove at CF, Berrrios Gold Glove. Thought Kirk won but I guess not. That is a pretty decent fielding team.

I did not expect the Blue Jays to run a $300 mill payroll. Hats off to ownership.

If the Blue Jays sign Alonso then we’re really cooking. Genuinely excited for next season.
