Varsho patrolling CF(once healthy) will help hide some of his weakness.
And Springers still strong in the field, Straws the late inning guy maybe, and the kids coming are all fine in the field.

waiting on the final financials, but seems a good deal to me. Four years is term I’m fine with, and the fifth is a club option? Nice having some power from both sides of the plate. Someone tweeted that he might have a lil 1b in him too….backup option.

first. majority of people are talking about how bad of a job atkins is doing and that people dont want to sign here because of them. talking as if its fact.

second. show me any article that says players arent signing here because of Atkins incompetence.

its always easy to criticize on the ouside and having no proof to anything.
Because pro sports is results oriented and he has failed so far.

Gotta take everything Hector says with a grain of salt but...

I could see it being Alonso since reports out of New York made it sound like he grossly misplayed his hand and thinks he's worth more than he is.

Wonder if he would consider a rich 1 year deal to try again next year?

Edit: Forgot Bregman is still out there too.

He's not even on the 40, and they don't play the same position, so your argument is baffling.
His point was for a management team that prides itself on defence above all, they are not going to make their defence weaker by putting vlad at 3rd.

So explain Santander? That signing flies in the face of that. I think you could get away with playing Vladdy part time at 3rd without hurting the D.

Especially if Gimenez moves to short.

Yeah, but they just signed Anthony Santander, so they're obviously willing to make exceptions.
Agreed, but it is worth pointing out there's a difference between trying to shield a crappy defender by putting him in left with a gold glover beside him and trying to put a defensively bad 1B at the second toughest spot on the diamond.

Vladdy sucks at a defensively lax position and Alonso is somehow worse.

5 plus option, 3rd year opt out….I’ll take it. The total dollars are reasonable.

His familiarity within the division is the nice feature to me.

One more big bat would make the lineup wild card contender I think.
The aim of every team, a $300 million wildcard contender

I wonder if Santander pushes Springer/Lukes (I see these two splitting a spot unless one of em gets Springier at the dish) to left given all the RH pitching on the team.

I get it, dude.
