I dunno if you've been paying attention but we offered the same for ohtani and had more for Sasaki soo
Talk about cherry picking though. First off both players are Japanese and now they'll be a lot closer to home. Now if you take out LA the jays have just as good of a chance as anyone. They've paid big money in the past. Unfortunately right now LA is LA

Speaking of Bo, he was in that meeting with Sasaki. You think this means anything? Also, if you give him Bobby Witt's AAV for like 8 years you think he'd take it? Why should he be paid more per year even if he bounces back (which is likely, imo)?
Bo's defense has dramatically improved in the last 1.5 seasons. He was better than Adames last year.

I would gladly give him Adam's AAV.

Not saying he “deserves” more, but Witt’s deal bought out his remaining years of arbitration and control. We’ve already got Bo’s value years, so his next deal is a FA contract and will likely come at a higher AAV as a result.

Yea, that makes sense. I would really love to re-sign both Vladdy and Bo. It would be huge for the franchise going forward.

Money isn't the only thing that's stopping us. It's the fo as well

I think if you go get 1 more bat and one starting pitcher, you can at least see a roster that is definitely improved over last season.

Will that be enough to contend for the division? Maybe not but there's still a path to having a pretty good team.

There is the desperation, 5 years for a player no one else would probably go over 3 for.
Both MLBTR and Fangraphs predicted 4/80. We'll see what the money looks like, but adding an extra year seems to be what's needed to get good players to Toronto.

This is the kind of move they've needed to make for two years now.
