Blue Jays Discussion: 2024-25 Off-season: The free agent watch begins (and sometimes old baseball radio broadcasts)

This isn't the place for calm and rational thought. The sky is falling damn it!
I am a calm rational person, losing out on a 23 year old that we can get pre-arb production for ruins the chance to shortcut the mess we are left with. Now its back to trying to bulk up a team without a farm system to trade from and every free agents 2nd choice.

Jays have deals out for everybody for a month now. Clearly nobody is interested. They only hoffman done because they were the only ones interested in taking him on with the shoulder issues. Only way now to get anything done if via trade or they wait until the player is desperate and other teams move on

The fitting end to the last two offseasons would be for the Jays to find out that they are also their fans 2nd choice (stop watching)

It’s like the front office is going out of its way to outdo itself for bad decisions. I’m done with baseball for a while. I’ll be checking in but zero interest

I sure hope the stadium is full of boos all season.

I need to know how the communication was so poor between Sasaki and the Jays that it lead to the Jays literally taking on 14 million for a minor leaguer to get the international pool money only for Sasaki to snub them. Did Sasaki play them or are the Jays front office this incompetent!?

Getting IFA pool money, regardless of Sasaki, is a good thing in my view. Rebuilding through the draft in the MLB is a fools errand and so many of the best players in the league come through Latin America. If we can sign a top-tier Dominican player, it would be such a boon down the line (like Vlad Jr is today, please sign him).

But the optics are horrendous. Like pie in the face optics of getting rejected once again. Not a good look for the org to be coming in second place perpetually, especially when you give off an aura of desperation. It's kind of juvenile and schoolyard-ish but reality at the same time.

Is 2 million in IFA money worth taking on Straw? And is there any decent international players left to sign?
