Why did so many here looking at last years HFB football threads want Marvin Harrison, a few Joe Alt, and many swap the pick

Lou, Ev Mike were big on Maye but quite a bit had other ideas

Watch out you may upset people
Some people were against taking the QB because the rest of the team was ass. If you want to say Wolf knew that this year's QB draft class was weak so he had to grab Maye that's fair. But it wasn't some master stroke drafting Maye. Most people had the Patriots taking Maye.

What you continue to ignore is the rest of his draft and free agency sucked. He failed miserably at improving the talent on this team.

UFA who were good didn’t choose a bad team, with high state taxes, with crappy weather, and not very good night life in North Attleboro
High taxes, weather and nightlife are not things that anyone should ever offer as excuses for a GM.

As for Polk I think it’s very possible he does a 180 the way Jaren Duran did and gets 60+ catches 700 yards
History does not support this

If I remember correctly, there were 6 QBs selected in the first 12 picks. It was clearly more than a 3 QB draft.

There was 2 obvious tiers to it. Williams-Daniels-Maye were the 1st overall quality guys and Nix-Penix-McCarthy were obvious 1st rounders but a step down.

The 2021 Draft had 5 QBs taken in the 1st 15, does that mean it was a 5 QB draft? Even though those 5 QBs are Lawrence-Wilson-Lance-Fields-Jones?

Anybody denying this is denying reality. The choice was made for Wolf once Williams & Daniels were taken 1-2. There of course were a small handful here pining for Harrison Jr, but iirc the majority wanted a QB. Most wanted Daniels. With the glaring hole at QB here even Don Sweeney couldn’t screw up that pick.

Not to derail the thread, but Sweeney did screw up that pick in 2015 passing on Barzal 3x with the biggest team need being a young 1C

There are a number of ways they could have gone last year, they got offered 3 1sts for their pick.

Considering all the gaffes the front office makes give them credit for not royally f***ing things up.

Honestly I think the majority of what I read here wanted Harrison iirc

Wild Card round has been a dud. But now that all the pretenders have been eliminated, things are gonna get real interesting, real quick. I’m looking forward to next weekend.

Gonna be in Vegas. 3 mornings golfing at Paiute Resort, and evenings at the sports book!

They should really rename Wild Card Weekend to The Weekend of False Hope. All the bad playoff teams think maybe if things go just right, they can make a run, before being sent back to reality by the time the weekend's over. All the non-playoff teams leave it believing those wild card teams weren't all that great and they aren't as far away from making the playoffs as they thought (they are).

Vrabel and his dude will have power over Wolf. Jonathan and Bob need someone in the front office to take the heat off them meddling and he's the fall man if they f*** this draft up.

I don't like him but there's no point obsessing over his presence.

What is the point of this ongoing argument when you refuse to acknowledge Wolf had other job responsibilities beyond that one pick?

Well, they did royally f things up with everything they did/didn't do after selecting Drake Maye.

But, I would like to revisit that first point. I don't recall the exact reporting. I am curious now...if they took a trade where they were given three first round picks where did it have them dropping down to in the draft? Still in a position to pick one of the 1st round QBs that were taken? Given how bad this football team is maybe they did not make the correct decision after all. But I realize it depends on who they would have taken had they accepted this trade offer.

I just chatted with Teddy Bruschi on the ferry over to Nantucket this morning, he thinks Pats fans will love Vrabels coaching style. Thinks Maye is the real deal.
