Laval Rocket: 2024-25 Laval Rocket Thread

AHL stats:
Primeau has the best GAA (2.02) in the league. Deservedly so! Laval would not be in such a comfortable position without him. Hopefully, Fowler can play a few regular season games, but Primeau needs to play most, if not all, playoff games.

Interesting info shared by Renaud Lavoie (anything can happen) on TVA spare.

While discussing with Joshua Roy on his return to the NHL, he shared to Lavoie that the Rocket coaching staff (Daniel Jacob) is tracking player actions related to "grit", with the message being that you need to do more of this in order to make it to the NHL, in addition to talent/production.

-stick on puck
-do difficult actions (blocked shots, going net front, etc)
-effective hit/checks e.g. not just going through the motion but actually gaining an advantage
-compete with energy

Of course we can snark about the (lack of) grit displayed by the Habs but it's a good thing that these aspects are being tracked / fostered. Clearly a pro-level coaching staff in Laval this year, don't think anyone is missing JF Houle.

And Roy still made it with these being the criteria he needed to improve? I thought he was weak in all these.

With Hoefenmayer's health scare last night and taken to the hospital, as well as Reinbacher still out, Laval signed defenseman Conner McDonald to an ATO:

He's a 25-year old RD who is listed on EliteProspects as 6' and 192 lbs.

He's played USports the last 5 seasons. This last year, he had 22 pts (4G, 18A) in 27 GP and had 4 pts (1G, 3A) in 5 playoff games.

25 year old forward. Listed at 6' and 185 lbs on EP.

He just completed his 5th year of NCAA, all played at Ohio State. He was Dobes' teammate for he two years he was there.

This past year he had 22 pts (8G, 14A) in 39 GP.

What type of player is he? Beats me.

Especially when you have Lane's brother available who's younger (23) and putted 50 pts in 36 GP this season.. Plus Hutson blood, you know

Also, are we signing Harris?

I’m guessing one or 2 guys are going to get called up soon. They’ve signed quite a few guys to fill in. The minute the Habs can start resting players (which might be after tonight) I think we’ll see call ups.

Even with a win they won't be guaranteed in. It would be an epic collapse, but still not in.
