Laval Rocket: 2024-25 Laval Rocket Thread

Do you think it might be worth calling him up to give him a shot with Laine and Newhook? Or just let him produce in Laval?
He's the guy who deserves it the most...but I absolutely do not see how he'll be able to survive the NHL with the speed and especialy the size and the strength he has...or hasn't in that case. In a playoff mode, there's just on way the kid plays...

Time to say it.....I'm insanely shocked to see how Farrell is doing in the AHL. Never thought he had that in him.
What is he doing that is surprising you? I get that he's putting up points, but beyond that?

I haven't been following Laval much this year.

Well...frankly....putting up points is one important thing. Kid is small, and strength is so behind that he could have been easily exposed in a tougher league like the AHL. And he was at first. And then somehow...figured it out. Not everybody can. But he also drives the play A LOT on his line. He takes action. He's assertive. He really surprising me.

Now, while I say all that and on effort and who deserve it, he should be called up.....way more than Roy.....there's no way I see him as a real NHL prospect. Frankly, I hope they do it a few games when we are going to be out of it if we are...but other than that, there's no world where he plays more than Pezzetta in he is called up. Nobody in Laval would anyway. Reason why I wanted some help.

Thanks.

I'm definitely down to see him getting called up, and hopefully while we're still fighting. Not looking to good for Roy, but last game was one of the few games where that line actually had offensive pressure.

Farrell may never become a regular NHL player, but he consistently demonstrated a knack for adapting (and thriving) at the levels he played in previously. Smart kid who seems to figure how to overcome. After all, he graduated from Harvard in 3 years (normally takes 4 years)!

I guess with the AHL deadline passing on the day the site was down, the Rocket didn't make any moves? Any improvements/reinforcements will come internally?

They signed Kevin Dineen's son to a PTO. 6'2 C who was Yale's captain this year. Good on faceoffs and zone entry/exit. Mostly a depth moves, but may get into some games this year.

The "big one" is Kapanen who will come back to NA when the SHL POs are done. The earliest his team could get eliminated would be March 27th.

Other guys could come but don't currently have a contract: Rohrer, Harris, Thorpe and Fowler. For all of them, it depends on when they get eliminated and if the Habs want them to turn (NA) pro next year.

For Thorpe, he could come on an ATO and go back to Vancouver next year.
