Laval Rocket: 2024-25 Laval Rocket Thread

We trusted the process. Here we are.

To Joel Bouchard, always thanking him and remembering him. Real ones recognize real.
Joel who? The career loser who developed nobody in his time in Laval and has always put himself ahead of the team he is coaching? I wouldn't be surprised if Darche has been forced to block his number because he is lobbying him nonstop to be the next NYI coach!

And I am ok with that, Adam, but I'm talking about next season. More ice time, bigger role than this year. We need to complete the formation of some youngsters who will need to take over the vets. I'm not complaining. just asserting that we will be there ... see?

You're talking about next year, but what you're talking about is going on now under Pascal Vincent.

If you're looking for a Top-6 full of guys 23 and younger and the Bottom-6 full of vets is unrealistic.

I have two bones to pick with Vincent...and it isn't playing the youngsters.

One is using a management style no longer used anywhere... that is punishing a player until he does what he's told. That was keeping Mailloux off the pp so he can play more defensivly.

Punishing? Who did he punish? Vincent is faaarrrr from the kind of coach Therrien was. He plays the kids whether they make mistakes or not. It's another story if a young guys continues to make the same mistakes over and over.

Mailloux not on the PP during the season to work on his defensive game is most likely a request from management than exclusively a Pascal Vincent decision.

Second is tolerating very aggressive play, which ix great, my coining of hyena pack, but he originally failed to get that mentality on coming back too. Earlier in the season we had endless 2 on 1 because the forwards failed to take their 200 ft game seriously. That has changed but it took most of the season to get there.

Earlier in the season, they still had to get to know the new coach. There was an adjustment period. But that didn't last long. The team was strong very early and kept it going pretty much all season.

If the team played with that hyena mentality offensivly AND defensivly, just give them the Calder Cup. And Vinny coach of the year.

You realize that Vincent is the AHL Coach of the Year, right?

Odd they would release them. I thought they would keep them as Black Aces.

Unless of course their PTO/ATO contracts expired? I know a PTO/ATO is only good for a certain amount of games. But you're surely the right person to ask, do the PTO/ATO deals count the games they aren't in the line-up, but only when they're on the roster? Or is it only games played?

After this, all they have as extras at forward are Mesar and Kidney. Arseneau is injured. And on D, they only have Wotherspoon, who is hurt. And Jacobs is injured and out for the year.

And they can't currently call up anyone from 3R as they are also on their own playoff run.

Joel c'est Laval, on manque pas de respect à la légende comme ça...

As well the travel distances keep increasing in case of an emergency. That is why I am surprised they didn't keep a couple of spare defense around unless the injured will be back.

I assume Engstrom/Wotherspoon injuries aren't serious, which would put them at 8 D. Protz isn't ready for AHL playoff hockey anyway.

16 fwd, 8 D and now 3 goalies with Duplessis (who's basically just a deluxe emergency goalie).

I think you don't understand.

If kids want more ice time, victory is only a probability, yeah, but at the actual pace and core, it's a formation too. They have to earn it, yeah, but once more, they need it. AHL is a development league. So it is a must to give them more ice time in the season to come. That kind of coach highly relies on vets because he wishes to win a spot in the big league. No need to finish first to be in the playoffs, but we need to see the kids play in more difficult situations to learn from that experience.
There’s not a team in the ahl that would play a guy just for development in the playoffs. Think of it this way. You’re potentially throwing away everyone else’s sacrifices and hard work so a guy like Mesar can get ahl playoff experience? Also, the guys who aren’t playing ARE actually learning. They should be saying to themselves “this is what it takes to be a pro”. If they don’t get it, then they don’t deserve to play pro hockey and I wouldn’t want them anyway.

Without RDS2, I'm relegated to fighting through porn and bet sites on streaming. No 4k, no slo-mo, no replays. If Rein, LX and Mailloux wasn't playing, it wouldn't be worth fighting two hours of streaming junk.

I am however getting endless downhill biking trash on RDS...

I live 20 minutes from the venue...kinda fun to take in a game on occasion.
I use to have the Bulldogs in Hamilton. 45 miinute drive and a great way to spend an evening. Back then it was 14-16 bucks but now, I read it was $250 in the Bell Center. I don't have $$ issue but I do have stupid spending issue.

AHL is not worth $250...

I would pay that if Laval plays Texas because of how hard I follow Laval but you are right...250 for AHL hockey is over the top.

Well he wasn't playing. So his size wasn't a factor.

However, I feel like next year, he will be in Laval. I doubt they signed him to his ELC this summer when his rights expire in 2026 to send him back to Junior. Unless of course he shits the bed at rookie camp and main camp and he really needs another year at Junior.
