Laval has been having trouble scoring.
Beck has 2 points in his last 8 games.
Davidson has 2 in his last seven (both in the same game).
Mailloux has 1 point in his 13 (no real improvement in +/-).
There are others.
Engstrom has been consistent!:)

A bit of a slow down, but they still scored 19 goals in those 8 games and went 4-4.

Still jumping around the middle third offence wise (currently 14th). On pace for 214 goals versus 235 last year (which was 5th in the league).

They were able to keep climbing defensively, currently 11th, which is a big improvement from last year where they ended up 25th (after spending a while last in the league). On pace for 190 goals against versus 242 last year.

the offense has had it's share of struggles but ever since the hot start where they were 12-2, it's been a struggle for Laval much of the time. In their last 5 games they have just 10 goals, before that they had 82 goals in 26 (3.15 per game).

The PP has really struggled, they don't have a PP QB and keep making changes to who's running PP1, first it was Mailloux, then Engstrom and now one day it's one and the next game it's the other it seems.

They have a real problem with a lack of goal scorers as only 3 players have more then 7 goals,

On an unrelated note, would he not have been a better option than Cavallin?

Laval didn't want him back. Bruins released him from his PTO as soon as Swayman signed. Providence didn't keep him after his PTO. He took longer than Joe Vrbetic to find an ECHL job.

At some point, people have to let it go.

We’ll see how well he does over the rest of the season.

It is pretty inconsequential to think about as Cavallin is the AHL 3rd goalie. Unless there's a goalie injury, he likely plays less than 8 AHL games (there is a pretty good chance it stops at the 3 he played). In the ECHL, Cavallin has been great with a 0.949 sv% so it's not like Kaskisuo would make a huge difference there.

Cavallin is also only 23 years old, so there is potential there for a future AHL backup while Kaskisuo is what he is at 31 years old.

You also have to think about whether Kaskisuo would have taken the role of AHL 3rd goalie/ECHL goalie back in September. He went to the ECHL now, but back then he was trying out at NHL/AHL camps.

Definitely not his year. Such a bad time for him too as it is his contract year and right now it's going to be hard to argue for another NHL deal.

He was playing a few games with the big team by this point last season and looking like he might still have an outside chance at an NHL career too. The hockey gods can sure be cruel.

When you think that Belzile had far more impact in the NHL than Gignac was there really an outside chance?
For me he was fortunate to get games on an extremely depleted roster.

My only definition of an ''outside chance'' is that it's not completely hopeless ;) Better than 1%, in short. He still had that small glimmer of hope last season and now it's crushed.

Even when he was playing, I think he had what, 2 goals this year? I love the speed, but it might be time to move on.

2 goals, 6 points in 15 games, but you have to factor in the injuries that slowed him down.

I prefer to wait until year end for a firm decision, but right now I wouldn't offer more than an AHL deal.

Ya I meant letting him walk after the season. Loved the speed but he’s got to produce and stay healthy. I think they can do better.
