Tuch is easily the most NHL ready player that I have seen watching Laval over the early part of this season. No one else has his combination of size, speed and physicality. He'll never score much at the next level, but he will be hell to play against. Between him, Beck, Florian Xhekaj, and Davidson, we have some iron coming up. Montreal will no longer be an easy team to play against.
Forecaster scouting report on Tuch:
Scouting Report
The younger brother of NHL winger Alex Tuch, he projects as a solid role player at the highest level due to his excellent size, strength and willingness to do battle in the corners and in front of the opposing goal. Unfortunately, he lacks his older sibling's offensive ability, which limits his overall potential in the National Hockey League. As a bottom-six winger, however, he gets the job done and is always difficult to line up against. What you see is what you get here, with few surprises or disappointments.

Seems the Habs have several options for third and fourth lines. Unfortunately without more top two line prospects, all the good hard working youngsters will not improve Montreal's standings. However some of them, like Tuch will help, and others can be traded away in package deals

What do you mean? They have enough top6 prospects to go with the established players. In fact, there's probably some that will be moved.

Just ignore these ‘scouting services’ as they just parrot the prevailing opinions and sentiments .

It’s interesting because they have the Canadiens’ development stage exactly reversed in my opinion: that the Canadiens are weak in forward prospects and have a plethora of top-line defensive prospects.

I wonder if they even watch the prospects they opine on. To call Tuch a solid role player is a gross understatement of this kid’s potential. With this kid’s size, strength, physicality and high end skating ability, Tuch will raise the team’s overall speed median, provide a huge / intimidating forechecking element, be able to play in all game circumstances, play a responsible defensive game and should, despite not being as offensively talented as his older brother, be able to score between 15 to 20 goals a year.

We should only have 5 more such ‘role’ players.

Ignore the ill-informed on-line chatter. Use your own eyes.

I would be pleased to see Tuch provide 15-20 goals or have major impact with the Habs, but see him as a fourth liner with speed and physicality.
Facts are, in his amateur career spanning 7 years, he was 12th, 3rd, 4th on his team in scoring for the under 18 teams and 3rd, 12th, 11th and 6th in scoring for Boston U. A total of 49 goals in 188 games.
I realize that those numbers are not the whole "picture", just looking at a historical perspective on his career so far.
There is little doubt he can help Montreal, but 15 to 20 goals per season may be a stretch. Just citing my opinion but hope I'm wrong!

Nice to see former Laval Rocket Nathan Légaré getting called up to New Jersey and will make his NHL debut.

He was traded to New Jersey last year in exchange for Arnaud Durandeau. Arnaud did well with Laval, putting up 6 pts in 10 GP. However, Habs opted not to bring him back. And with how well Laval is doing this year, you can't say they made the wrong choice not re-signing him.

Nathan is the brother of my brother's gf, we were so pumped for him!!! Sucks he's not in Laval anymore though 😁

Agree with the first sentence but they are much closer to Tuch's upside than you are. He is not a high end skater and does not project to be anything more than a bottom six grinder who bangs in the odd goal while playing a heavy game and providing an effective forecheck. He is a decent skater for a big guy and he has all of the tools to be an effective forechecker but there is very little to suggest that he will ever be a core piece.

I like him but he is more likely to be part of a conveyor belt of big bottom six forwards who play until we can't afford their salary demands and move on to the next young grinder than he is to being a longterm piece in the top/middle six.

His most likely projection would be as a 4th liner who occasionally can fill in on the third line.

AHL Trade:

Jacob Perreault for Noel Hoefenmayer. I know nothing about Noel. Anyone know anything about him?

We had a thread for that: Confirmed with Link: - Canadiens Acquire Noel Hoefenmayer from the Oilers for Jacob Perreault (minor league deal)

Hoefenmeyer is an offensive D that can play physical but is prone to defensive cramps.

Probably Laval's 6-8th D (one lower if you count Reinbacher) but better than Perreault who was Laval's 17 or 18th forward.
