Someone on the Jackets board just suggested that a reasonable trade to get both McCann and Bjorkstrand from Seattle would be

Luca Del Bel Belluz
Luca Marrelli
Luca Pinelli
2025 1st round pick originally from Minnesota

It does seem in the ballpark on value (LDBB is especially valuable). Though I don't think the Jackets should target McCann and I'm not sure the Kraken are actually serious about trading him this early. I think they're just listening. Mostly I'm sharing this here because it's hilarious to see three Luca's names together in a serious proposal.
I'd be targeting Chinakhov. Had a few jackets fans say they would do Chinakhov + 1st for McCann. That would be a home run deal for us. I wouldn't do the above deal for McCann AND Bjorkstrand- I think they have more value than that and LDBB IMO isn't a stand out prospect and neither are the others.

My first thought was "You can't be serious" because of the Luca's alone all being in the same trade. I'm not sure I like it, but I wouldn't be horribly pissed if it happened. At this point, I don't think I'd be horribly pissed at getting a good return for any of our vets.

Not fire sale level though... naturally.

I'm in agreement - I'd like us to sell a little more aggressively than we have been but not too far, for all the reasons you mentioned.

I just bring up the 9 2nd rounders as often as possible because HF seems completely unaware of all the picks Seattle has made.
I'm well aware of the picks Seattle has made and I like a lot of them. It's just that we can't really speed up the passage of time. I think this roster has potential to be good, and I think ownership probably doesn't want to wait another 3-5 years for our current prospect pool to *hopefully* make the NHL and do well.

I really like the drafting so far though, especially in the the 2nd+. I think we've got a lot of good guys and hopefully continue to draft well. We're just kinda...waiting on results still though.

So, I don't mind waiting. I believe that not doing the retool/restock/rebuild properly is the worst decision.

Not serious, no.

I'd love to see Ron Francis try to defend a "three Luca's" trade in the post-trade press conference.

The only way Columbus is willing to move Chinakhov is if they think there is something unfixable with his back injury. He has the high end talent where it wouldn't make sense to trade him unless he has a long term problem. So if they're willing, I'm worried.

team shouldn't be doing any serious complete tear down and rebuild especially not as a 4th year.

No.
They should keep on doing the same thing hoping for a different outcome......

BTW:

Honestly, this is when you do it. Give him a shot to see how it goes. To see the game through NHL eyes. The season is lost, he's young. The worst that could happen is he sucks right now and needs more AHL time.

What type of contract do you guys see Evans getting?

He's not arbitration eligible, so I don't see him getting a big long term deal. I don't think he's proven an irreplaceable value and has largely been an effective 3rd pair role. I'd expect they give him another year of "let's see" as a QO, because that's sort of how Francis has worked for anybody who isn't thrust into a bigger role permanently (Beniers only thus far). Granted I'd say he's the first of the Kraken to sort of live in that gray area at the end of their first contract that isn't arb eligible, so who really knows. I would certainly want to see more before offering anything substantial.

He has impressed me with his IQ and drive, but the Kraken D need to become much more solid as a group. I agree it's hard to see where he fits in right now. That said... he's the type that the Panthers pick up off the trash heap and suddenly he's a hidden gem, so a bridge deal makes sense.
