That's his choice but if makes a great impression that 4th year and really busts out he can dictate the terms and money of contract...Players have to learn that 4 years of college and playing regularly is better than playing 4th line minutes down on the "Farm"!!!

The thing with Hughes is he's still young and not 24 and he uses his brain...if the Kings keep kicking Draft picks and Prospects to the curb they will be left with "nothing" to try to develop...LA's problem this year is all the all the hill,never-will-be's on the Farm...can't take that approach when trying to develop young atalent they have to have an avenue there...

The thing that gets Hughes is the 50 contract limit. The Kings are likely to be right up against if they re-sign their currenr NHL roster players. They would be at (my rough count) 38 of 50 before signing any of the minor league UFAs/RFAs or anyone additional like Kirsanov. I counted Kuzmenko, Gavrikov, and Laf because I think LA at least makes every effort to keep them.
I just don't see an NHL contract for Hughes despite his solid play recently.

I bet some of the AHL contracts fall off and Blake doesn't sign them...a lot of them are scrubs so why would he...but knowing Blake...

I am absolutely certain someone sees 'former 2nd rd pick', 'good recent performance,' and 'free asset' and gets him signed.

I'm with RJ. Someone will sign him at least to an AHL contract.

I just don't think the Kings will be the team.
