Ahlers mentioned on the broadcast last night we're about at the 5-week mark of missing Zegras during the 4–6-week timeline. Wasn't there an early report things were progressing ahead of schedule?
Yeah, I think he said last night was the 5 week mark since the surgery. My guess is that they're taking their time with him, making sure it's 100% and getting him back in shape. Hopefully he plays that first home game back.

"Ahead of schedule" in Ducks world just means we might get a proof of life photo before the ransom demand.

MCGinn is just always injured. Last time he had a full season was 6 seasons ago. Fortunately this is his final year of his deal. I cant see a world in which he continues to play after this, at least not in the NHL.
Depends on the recovery period and the surgeon. He’s been our best bottom 6 guy this year when healthy by far. Someone will likely throw him a tryout at a minimum, then sign him if he plays like he did this year.

With his lengthy injury history, maybe he gets league minimum somewhere, but regardless of his play his availability make him unreliable.

Right like the injuries have made him a min salary player, but is a legit bottom 6 winger with some physicality and scoring touch. Totally worth a flyer for a team trying to win it all where getting this guy for a playoff push seems ideal, and you get your trade deadline addition for you bottom 6 for “nothing”. And still can use assets to add other areas of weaknesses.

Well the Mcginn experiment for a middle pick is finally over. If he could stay healthy he could have been a solid bottom 6 guy with forechecking speed and maybe pot in a dozen goals, but he’s been washed up for many years at a pretty early age.

I guess the positive is that a prospect is going to get a chance to develop. I’d like to see Colangelo because we can’t even score a single goal in recent games, but that wouldn’t be playing to his strengths. My guess is Nesterenko will get his opportunity.
