2024-25 General Dallas Stars Talk

Question from an outsider, is Wyatt Johnson stuck on the 3rd line all year or has he been moved up and down and just works best on that line. He’s such an incredible young player and when I watch him and Harley really stand out.

I feel like he could put up ridiculous points playing with the quality of players on the 1st line compared to the 3rd but you guys would know better.

Definitely jealous of Dallas picking a player who I think can become a top 10 C in the NHL so late.

He's played all over. He started at RW with Robertson and Hintz, but he's just better as a natural center.

The Stars have really had two second lines. Calling Johnston a 3C is disingenuous, especially when you realize he leads all Stars' forwards in TOI.

I don’t know if this has been touched on, but I kind of can’t believe Nichushkin on the Avs will actually be playing the Stars again in the playoffs after last year. I’m sure on some level he feels like he owes them one.

Yeah, not to mention if he slips up again his NHL career is basically done

I feel like the Stars season comes down to if they can force a split in the first 4 games of the series vs the Avs.

If they can it guarantees a Game 6 minimum and likely brings Heiskanen into the series.

I'd they drag their current average play into the first 4 games they will be down 3-1 or even swept. Even 3-1 down would be a bridge too far.

My expectations aren't high, but will see how much fight they can put into the first 4 games. Maybe they can win one with a strong home performance and then have Jake steal another.

My worry, based on their play from these last couple months, is they'll get in a big hole and try to rush Heiskanen back, and f*** up his knee

Imagine you were shown this photo at the start of the year. Pretty wild to me still.

As others have said I think Oettinger will have to steal a few games; hoping then we get Heiskanen back for a best of 3 series (games 5, 6, 7.)

Postseason though and excited to see if Stars/Rantanen can step up. We’ve got three lines who can put up points and a strong 4th, get us around the Avalanche and game on!

Go Stars!

honestly, I rather the Stars use those two extra games to get their shit together.

Plus teams with an extended period off always seem to fumble it, whether its prior to playoffs, or during after winning a short series.

One thing I keep reminding myself of to raise my spirits after all these embarrassing losses is how badly the Stars played in those primer games before the 2020 bubble playoffs. They played soooooo bad and they flipped a switch in the playoffs. Hope they can do that again because they’re going to need to up their game big time to win any games without Miro.

I know a few of you will chime in about how that run was a fluke because of COVID and all that. But have you considering shutting up?

You’re not wrong. At the end of the day, teams who have seen playoff success for a few seasons, and know what it takes, know when to switch it on.

DeBoer was on theticket recently and made mention that Seguin in a team meeting spoke up about how they ended the regular season on a high note, going 10-2 last year and almost got the president trophy to only go down 2-0 in round 1. That to me is a veteran team realizing the end of the year means nothing

The Stars knew they were making playoffs awhile ago. Come playoff time, I’m not concerned about which team will show up. And hey, if i’m wrong then call me a fool

another thing that gets buried is that he is big on the pk as well. He is the top toi of all forwards for dallas bar rantanen who hasnt been here this season. The stars do a good job of getting guys to learn to pk in texas and picking centers who do it in junior, Wyatt is in the second group but yea. the only guy who came up through dallas system that hasn't done a decent chunk on the pk that comes to mind is robo but he is a winger.
