2024-25 General Dallas Stars Talk

Also wondering what lines could look like if Seguin can come back and slip right back in with Duchene and Marchment. Even though Rantanen is clicking w/Robertson and Hintz Robertson had taken off before we acquired him.

Robertson - Hintz - Bourque/Granlund
Marchment - Duchene - Seguin
Benn - Johnston - Rantanen
and a mix of Granlund, Steel, Beck, Blackwell, Dadonov, Bourque for a 4th line.

That’s three lines with each pushing a couple of guys who can snipe, take a faceoff, etc. and really step up if they’re not seeing the opposing teams top defense against them cause we have a really nice top-9.

Not a snowball’s chance in hell they split up Hintz and Rantanen. They’re not gonna touch that top line with the way they’re playing right now.

Probably not but that would literally be three lines with at least two forwards who can snipe a goal/set up one with a forward to keep an eye on back checking; oh hell and I forgot about Granlund haha.

it’s definitely an interesting question about what happens when Seguin comes back. I really like Granlund with Duchene and Marchment. Just tough to ignore how good Mush/Duchene/Seguin were to start the year. That was our top line at the time and they were cooking. Difficult to envision Seguin coming back that seamlessly though

Put Johnston with the retirement homies

Robertson - Hintz - Rantanen
Marchment - Duchene - Granlund
Benn - Johnston - Seguin
Steel - Bourque - Dadonov
Like that set up; top 6 is stacked and opposing teams may see 3rd line as a couple of older vets but Johnston could run it against weaker lines, kid is amazing.

Feel like Plan A for playoffs will be this..

Robertson-Hintz-Rantanen
Marchment-Duchene-Seguin
Benn-Wyatt-Granlund
Steel-Bourque-Dadonov

I'd love to see more of Rantanen with Wyatt, but unlikely they split up the top line.

Also personally would prefer Back over Dadonov on that 4th line as it needs to be a different type of line...but think they play Dadonov before a rookie.

Here’s my thoughts after missing the last few games when the top line has got going…

That line seems to be dominating against lesser teams. Nothing wrong with that but I think spreading out the talent is a better recipe for success against playoff caliber teams as they will have defensemen more capable of slowing the big line down.

I think you run this…

Robo - Hintz - ???
Mush - Duchene - Seguin/Granlund
??? - Wyatt - Rantannen

Fill in the rest with Seguin/Granlund, Benn, Mav, and Daddy (when hot).

Robo and Hintz draw the top defenders. Then that allows the Duchene and Wyatt lines to feast on lesser competition.

If the Duchene line finds their magic with Seguin, and Wyatt - Rantannen clicks, you have 3 first lines.

Essentially, top heavy lineups are easier to shut down than the ridiculous depth we can run.

Of course you reassemble the big line when you need a goal. It’s good to know now that they can work as a unit.

Can't wait for playoffs

With the caveat that this will never happen in a million years, but I think the actual strongest lineup we could ice would be...

Granlund-Johnston-Rantanen
Marchment-Duchene-Seguin
Robertson-Hintz-Bourque
Benn-Steel-Back
Ya I posted this exact forward group a while ago. PDB has to have the balls to put Benn on the 4th line. Would be just ridiculous depth. Potentially 3 first lines and as good a 4th line as you will ever see.

Benn would be a fine 4th liner if he starts hitting. I’d prefer him there rather than 3rd line.

Yeah, Miro is closer than you think...

Yes, everything is proceeding as planned just like the prophecy foretold.

In the final hour of this great journey that is the path of the LTIR we will witness something that hasn't been witnessed since what happened to Janet Jackson in the Super Bowl of 2004.

At the start of G1 of round one of the playoffs against the Avs something out of the ordinary will happen. When players have entered the ice for warm ups the crowd goes silent. A person with a hood on his head will appear near the rinkside. He raises his head and the crowd gasp: It's Miro! with a scar over his left eye. Why the scar you may ask? Because it looks cooler.

And then the warm ups just continue, that was it.
