Wait, didn't we see this mentioned here? Was it @Dallasman?

we did see it, 8x8.152 IIRC, wasn't Dallasman, he did mention earlier in the year (around Oettinger extension) that He (Johnston) was next and it would be like Hintz.

I'm guessing if the team offered 8x8.1 they may not be crazy far apart.

Seems unlikely he'd be asking 8x10 and the team would counter with 8x8.1 and it would leak out of a normally pretty tight ship

Oh it was Dallasman who said Johnston turned the low 8s offer it down

From Jeff Marek:
To no surprise, I’m told the Dallas Stars and Wyatt Johnston are working away at what his next deal will look like. Ideally, Stars GM Jim Nill would prefer to have Johnston’s number nailed down before making Trade Deadline moves, but this isn’t a perfect world. It sounds like the Stars forward is in the $8-8.5 million AAV range on an eight-year deal.

Hope we do see this deal done this week

Id be shocked if Wyatt demands 9+ mill, even though he definitely deserves it. Pavelski being his father, I’d imagine Wyatt will definitely take a team friendly deal to give the team a better shot at winning it all.

Anything under 9mill for 8 years is a huge win in my eyes.
