I mean you COULD just not offer Benn a contract and name Wyatt captain I know this won't happen
I feel like that would be just as disrespectful, if not more, than what Nieuwy did to Modano. Letting Benn walk would sour me as a fan.I mean you COULD just not offer Benn a contract and name Wyatt captain I know this won't happen
Dallasman posted theDobson is fun to think about trading for but Nill will probably get Savard and call it good so he can resign his guys in the offseason.
Dallasman posted the. So, I will expect Dobson until it is no longer possible.
What is Benn worth if he puts up another 50-60 point season?
Oof, hope he takes the Duchene discount in that case. He has been overpaid for quite a few years now.He could probably still get around a 7M AAV on the open market.
My best guess is something around 5.5M per for 3 years. I think the term will really depend on what Benn is thinking in terms of when he plans to retire.
If Benn really wants a cup then he should take a bigger pay cut than that.He could probably still get around a 7M AAV on the open market.

But is the jersey green…?Dobson practicing this morning. No red jersey
I mean, Benn has been a Star for 16 seasons. When they gave him his big extension, they made him the fourth highest paid player in the league. Is not offering him a contract more disrespectful than offering him a low number contract?I feel like that would be just as disrespectful, if not more, than what Nieuwy did to Modano. I doubt Benn will ask for something that will hurt this team moving forward. But then again, who knows.
I think if you can add a good player, you do. Worry about the money later. This team has a number of UFAs upcoming. So I hear Dobson wants lots of money and he is RFA at the end of this year, correct?
If we trade for him, he isn't a rental, so don't we have to move someone with money out to bring him in? Or do we just worry about that in the offseason?
I just don't see how we can afford to move Mav or Stank. They are cheap talent and with the contracts we have and WJs upcoming raise, that just seems too valuable to move.
I admit I am not as well versed in our cap situation as many of you but I understand we won't have a lot of cap space over the next few years without some changes.

I'm leaning towards the same position as you. For me, Jones is currently the last man on my list of puckmoving RD's that I want, due to his contract.Even at 50% retention that Jones contract is ugly no matter how you slice it toward the tail end. With Dobson at least you have a chance to negotiate terms yourself and he's 5 years younger. And the whole "better at hockey" thing.
Let the Avs have Jones IMO.
Probably just interested and checking in.I wonder how serious this Dobson speculation/rumor is. Is it as simple as the Stars management checking base with the Isles about Dobson, or is there actual serious negotiations happening.
