Still waiting on that Andersson move that was happening to pan out before I shift my excitement to Dobson

Flames are basically competing with 1 (dysfunctional) team for the final wild card spot. Think they will be slight buyers if anything. They did a decent job adding a range of early picks in recent Drafts.

Think it makes sense for them to go for playoffs and reward the play.

I'd say 99% Andersson stays.

I don’t know how Nill doesn’t go all in for Dobson. He’s the perfect fix for the present, and for the future. Acquiring Dobson would solve such a major hole for us.

Anyone should be available not named Johnston and Miro.

Nill's biggest challenge is probably the Islanders not wanting to be sellers. They think of themselves as contenders because they're run by an 82 year old with no interest in futures or a rebuild.

True but a guy like Stank, Bourque, or Bichsel are not prospects anymore and can make an impact on the Isles immediately and not set them back

Anyone wanna play guess the auto?

Dusted off this I started getting signed about 10 or so years ago.

There's a couple I have no clue on lol
Here's who I know for sure is on there:
John Klingberg - top left
Jason Spezza - next to Klingberg
Cody Eakin - below Klingberg/Spezza
Antoine Roussel - left of Travis Moen
Kari Lehtonen - Below the "D" in Dallas
Travis Moen - left of the Star
Patrick Eaves - between the "U" and "N" in Country
Jim Nill(!) - right of the Star
Patrick Sharp - right of Nill
Curtis McKenzie - below/bottom right of Nill
Colton Sceviour - left of the puck on the right
Jason Demers - below Shore
Devin Shore - above the 2nd S in Stars
Radek Faksa - below the 2nd S in Stars
Matthias Janmark - on the C in country

Could be but not too sure:
Jryki Jokipakka - top left of right puck
Vern Fiddler - below left puck

#'s I'm not sure about without looking them up:
36 (below Kari Lehtonen)
42 - on the Y in country
25(?) Not sure on the first one under the T in "Stars"
27 x2 - between R and Y in country

Dobson is mildly overrated IMO but would be a solid #3 here. Whatever you give up would be needing to keep that in mind along with the agent switch he's likely looking to jump directly to a megadeal that would outstrip our existing salary structure. But you could say to hell with that and simply improve the team.

The salary structure was built around flat cap contracts. It was never going to last.

True, but I've heard about a rising cap for so long I'll believe it when I see it.

If Dobson really is available you have to think many teams are going to be in on him. Other GMs probably smell blood in the water when it comes to a potentially incompetent target like Lou.

And then you have the recent history of the Avalanche basically hijacking Toews for nothing.

Nah you got it. I know people see Dobson’s points and get excited but he’s not great at defense at all

Assuming more moves will be made..

How do we rank the Stars needs?

1. Top 4 RHD (preferably an ability to move puck well)

2. Right wing with size (can score plus be physical) for the event Seguin can't go.

3. 4th line / bottom 6 depth

That accurate?

So I hear Dobson wants lots of money and he is RFA at the end of this year, correct?

If we trade for him, he isn't a rental, so don't we have to move someone with money out to bring him in? Or do we just worry about that in the offseason?

I just don't see how we can afford to move Mav or Stank. They are cheap talent and with the contracts we have and WJs upcoming raise, that just seems too valuable to move.

I admit I am not as well versed in our cap situation as many of you but I understand we won't have a lot of cap space over the next few years without some changes.

Money could be there but does Nill want to let Benn or duchene go? What is their next contract look like? What is Johnston’s next contract? Is Dobson asking for too much and that is why there are rumors he is available?

Dobson is fun to think about trading for but Nill will probably get Savard and call it good so he can resign his guys in the offseason.
