It almost feels like some alternate universe where he plays for NYR.
Trading for Kari when they were trying to win with Brad Richards wasn't a bad move. Keeping Kari when the team went into bankruptcy mode for a few seasons was a bad non-move because it meant the Stars emerged from bankruptcy with nothing to show for it. I would have traded Kari and gone full tank. Imagine being in the running for the tops of some drafts instead of being stuck drafting 10-15 range all thanks to Kari having his best seasons when the team didn't need it.Not to pile on, but I agree that constant negativity can be annoying, even if expected from at least someone on any forum.
But to the point, I like to analyze what was available at the time. I think many crapped all over the Kari signing (previous GM) but truthfully, if you said that, please tell us what else you would have done. Yes, you might think we should obtain prime Gretsky (somehow) but we all know that isn't possible. As to acquiring a Dman, hey, Suter wasn't terrible and Nill did go get Tanev last year, so he is capable of trading for quality players. Yes, he likes value, but Ceci and Granlund without giving up Bischel or Borque strikes me as a great move.
His ideal role being a #6 dman? He wasn't paid like a #6. If he was making what he is now, sure.I actually agree. Suter was completely fine last season settled into his ideal role.
I get that, but his play last season made everything about him more palatable. His ideal role being a #6 dman? He wasn't paid like a #6. If he was making what he is now, sure.
