Imagine going into the deadline without Riley Damiani as a trade chip. Unserious GM
timestamped to the GMJN interview
God we are so lucky to have Jim as GM
Blows my mind people want him fired
He's so good at communicating and helping fans remember that players are people too and have their own ups and downs that sometimes you just gotta roll with
I really like the Gudas idea, I feel like he would be a great RD playoff performer and not too costly eitherStranges and Dumba for Gudas.
That would be amazing if we could get him somehow. Doubt they trade their captain though unless he’s requesting a trade.I really like the Gudas idea, I feel like he would be a great RD playoff performer and not too costly either
I think most people just want to win. The longevity of being relevant doesn't really matter to casual fans. They see other teams go all in and have success and then Jim plays it safe year after year it can be frustrating for them. The famous "I like where were at" and then we get a first round exit.
Miro, you midget…Liking the Stars size profile on defense now.
In order of Height (best line up when healthy)
Bischel 6'7
Lindell 6'3
Ceci 6'3
Harley 6'3
Lybushkin 6'2
Miro 6'2
Getting bigger in front of Oettinger and winning battles up front will be so important rest of the way.
not always but most of the timeHey friends; Sens fan coming in peace. Love the way your team play.
Quick question; has Duchene always played C during his time with you guys?

Who would you give up for one of them?If hes out until the playoffs then give me Seth Jones or Erik Karlsson. Even if he does come back he won't be fully up to speed. We will need help
Dunno what Kcb12345 would do, but with 50% retention on Jones, I'd give Chicago Bourque or Stankoven. For less retention, it's gonna have to be an AHL'er. Supposedly Karlsson can't skate anymore, so not sure I would want him.Who would you give up for one of them?
Nill said those 2 and Bichsel are untouchable. Not sure what other assets we have though other than Stranges and picks. Kind of think we aren’t making anymore trades unless it’s a depth player.Dunno what Kcb12345 would do, but with 50% retention on Jones, I'd give Chicago Bourque or Stankoven. And people forget about how many teams that go all in and still lose anyway. The same people calling for this would be even more livid if Nill made those moves and we lost anyway.
There are no guarantees. 2019 TBL and 2023 BOS were probably the two best Cup contenders of the cap era at the start of their respective playoffs, and neither even won a round. Countless teams have had big deadlines and loaded up, only to still get eliminated. How many teams barely ever had 1st round picks for the better part of a decade, and ended up with zero Cups to show for it? It's a lot, I'm sure.
So much luck goes into the playoffs. So many things out of our control. What if in 2019, Benn actually scores on the wraparound? What if in 2020, the Islanders pull off the upset about Tampa in the ECF? What if in 2022, we survive against Calgary and Oettinger carries us to the Finals? Or in 2023, what if Suter doesn't f*** up and cost us back to back OTs against Vegas? What if we don't get one of the hardest playoff draws in modern history in 2024?
On the flip side, what if we had traded our 1sts and it changed nothing? We'd be missing Harley, Johnston, Bourque, and who knows what else. We absolutely would not still be a contender right now if some of these noisier, negative fans got their way and we sold the farm the first time we felt like we had a real shot at a Cup.
When you've got 8+ teams every year that truly feel like they're a contender, you're gonna need some luck on your side to go all the way. So what matters the most is setting yourself up to get as many chances at a Cup as you possibly can. That's what I think Nill understands very well and is doing a masterful job at executing.
This year and next year, we should remain a top tier contender. After that, there'll be a need for some tinkering, but there will still be a high end core to build around, and it'll just be a matter of restocking the depth, which I trust this front office to do well.
I've been saying it for years now, I don't think I've ever been more excited to be a Stars' fan than I am now. We're winning around 50 games each season, have been a threat for deep playoff runs for a majority of the past 5 years, and there's no reason to think that won't continue for years to come. And that's because of the job Nill has done in balancing the roster and maintaining a solid pipeline of prospects.
