On the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he's thinking smaller. Does seem a bit odd though to only go after UFAs, like is he completely ruling out signing these UFAs if they work out? Does he want to just burn more assets if we don't win the Cup this season? Are they planning for free agency already after the disaster that was this past summer?

If Robertson/Johnston still weren't performing then maybe he would've gone big game hunting, but now I could see us getting the textbook "Marchment & Seguin are our deadline additions". And maybe another middle 6 forward, bottom 6 forward, and depth dman to go with them at most. It's also possible he's waiting for more clarity on Seguin's timeline.

I would also suspect that guys like Brock Nelson are not gonna come cheap this year. Not many good options out there

I’m fine with adding a solid bottom 9. The defense on the other hand… not gonna win many games icing Dumba/Smith out there. We all know Nils won’t play in the postseason.

he was best canes player and he didn´t get enough ice time, your answer?

I get it finnish fans are pissed that i said Necas is far better player than Rantanen, but that´s all you can do, watch Necas with Avs carry 2nd line on his own and get humiliated, Rantanen is getting contract of 7-8 milion AAV at best without MacKinnon. Like cmon Rantanen is good but he is no Pasta, he can´t drive the play on his own.

Watching the game now and Necas already has a terrible turnover in his zone. Loser

Based on Nill's comments, who are some upcoming UFA's other than Nelson and Boeser that we could be targeting?

Kadri and Andersson don't fit the bill, and looking at our cap situation the next 2 seasons, we can't add anyone notable unless Seguin suddenly decides to retire which is unlikely. It looks like we have cap space for next year but most of it is already spoken for, and who knows what happens with Benn.

Wonder what @Dallasman thoughts are 👀
